Not even questioning Eddie, don’t even come into this thread.

Prem’s just very competitive at the moment and in any other season, say, game week 13 of the 98/99 season, a team would be 7th with a points total of 19.

Our upcoming two months of fixtures look promising and maybe a five game win streak could shoot you up the league, which I do think this team of capable of.

Whoever said, Mourinho, no. That would send up club into a tailspin. We have to look at the long term project. Eddie’s our guy and we’re supporting him all the way.

If we’re wanting a short term winning mentality manager, then going after Conte at end of season would be my choice.

If it’s a statement manager, then Inzaghi in summer.

Progressive manager with potential, Kieron McKenna at end of the season after they go down.

End of day, what the future vision is for the club 25 onwards will determine who is the manager. If it’s still we will challenge the top boys, you will be backed well, and you’ve got a few seasons to move towards it, then we can attract anyone IMO.

I think the consistent poor performances is the main gripe, and the most worrying thing.

It's telling there have been no real exciting suggestions - in the press, on here, or elsewhere. There are no standout candidates that I can see in terms of anyone with serious pedigree who would represent real intent or ambition. That doesn't mean there aren't lesser known coaches who could be the next big thing in waiting - but this of course represents a greater risk.

Yeah, fair, but look at Arne Slot for example. I had never even heard of him myself. Not sure our board has the same "creativity" or know the market well enough, though.

Do one with the jose M craic.... has been, yesterday's man, defacates on nearly everything, a journey man who looks to sign a big contract, then designs a way to get sacked and payed off..

I think the damning part for me is even if we had won I would have been worried. We looked awful...again. We've had one spell of three games where we looked like a team, the rest of the season has been us groping to put one foot in front of the other. We've largely been shit, can't really see how to describe it as anything other.

Will never shout for him to be sacked but these performances we are seeing are the norm these days. I hope he can turn it around but I have my doubts to be honest. Will back him as long as he's here though.

Talking about managers that are out there, I know absolutely nowt about Conceicao so I'll give that article a read that KaKa's posted. But after reading many a James Horncastle article about him recently I'd also take Allegri. However, whether he'd manage outside of Italy for the first time here is incredibly debatable and I don't think those upstairs would go for him.

I think Howe's got the season regardless unless we totally capitulate and tumble toward the bottom 3.

As is Rafa imo - we need to be more forward thinking than him imo.

If Howe was to go, Jose would be a terrible appointment. We need to find a modern, progressive manager to replace him if and when he leaves.

I'm not enjoying the way we play anymore, the system was better when we had wingers like Almiron and ASM, this whole Barnes or Gordon headache, likewise Tonali or Longstaff, is just irritating, there's a massive sway from the manager to use Gordon anywhere no matter what, it's what I think anyway, not sure ifv anyone else does? Similar with Bruno he's undrinkable for Howe, I also think making Bruno captain hasn't helped at all, it's totally upset the squad harmony, we were captained better under Trippier.

Feel Eddie has given the newer bunch of players the power over the grafters that saved us from relegation, and contributed hugely to our qualifying for the UCL.

I'm always backing Eddie Howe, I believe in him, but he's a bit stubborn, and he has his favorites.  I'd not really want him out for the sake of it, especially for someone like Jose Mourinho, however if Thomas Frank was able to be convinced to come here, that would be appealing.

Funny how replies and comments in here would change in 90 seconds of 1-0 to 1-1.

No it wouldn't I certainly would have been saying that the performance was shit and 0 efforts in 98 minutes against the second bottom team in the table is not good enough

We’ve been playing shit since Aug, that’s not down to the competitiveness of the league, it’s down to us being shit.

And us being shit for multiple games is down to the players and the management

I like Eddie a lot and would give him a massive amount of leeway, but I can see with my own eyes that we’re shit in far too many games

This isn’t a blip, it’s now become the norm

Still think the biggest issue is the stagnation off the pitch and the inability to mix things up/refresh the squad. Given the constraints we really needed to be more ruthless and proactive in the transfer market to build a more balanced squad. Some of the blue chip players we've retained and banked on building our season around (Bruno, Gordon) have been atrocious tbh.

I think Howe deserves a fair amount of criticism for the way we're playing but I also honestly don't think changing manager is going to make a huge amount of difference given where the club/squad level is at right now. Indeed I think there's just as much chance the inadequacies would be exposed even more under a different coach.

Fully agree. Additions keep momentum going even if an illisusion and things get refreshed. Even if its just one addition to title winners. Its rare to stand still. Can think of teams that won the league then did nothing and dropped way off as a result the following season as well as our own experiences from the extremes of under Ashley and with Sir Bobby. Its no guarantee things will get get better or even not go backwards but stagnating re players seems to always lead to a drop off.
