iF we had won all the games we’ve played so far we would be leading the league…….

Even though Leicester were poor i thought we played really well with some excellent passes and combination play. Poor opponents doesnt automatically make your passes great. (Missed the last 30 mins).

Im going to keep my hopes in check though as we have had these types of games before and then the next game looking bleak again. 

 

Isak looking like he is back on top of his game is very promising.

I think the idea we are for instance going to go on a run of 4 games with wins in the league looking at our upcoming fixtures is a bit deluded, we likely won’t.

 

We then after Spurs away have a run when you’d like expect points to be collected.

 

It’s hard to go on a run of form due to the number of good sides in the league and how fixtures break, we just need to keep points ticking over at a consistent rate, it was the issue with the block of 4 games just gone. 

 

 

I'll be happy if we just stop conceding really soft goals. I reckon the results will look after themselves once that happens.

It has more teams involved and is tighter but was the case for the season we finished 4th man u were flukey and patchy and Liverpool and Chelsea were having poor seasons. Iam sure if we went on Bournemouth/fulham/Notts forest forums would be saying take advantage while the teams that are previously consistent are having a bad/patchy season (we ourselves are hoping it's a poor half season and we can turn it around). 

 

Still alot of ups and downs possible you have to carry on hoping we are one of the teams to still take advantage from a strange season while no one has massively pulled away (appreciate depending on your point of view top 4 being 5 points clear may seem like alot or not alot of ground to make up)

 

Still hoping to be in the European conversation to help keep better players and show that we haven't just fallen completely backwards project trajectory wise.

Another two wins then after this week we can hopefully begin to build.

 

Brentford is a big, big game to right wrongs of last weekend and Ipswich is a game we really have to be winning to be contending for Europe (but neither will be easy).

Ipswich the harder game IMO. Half keep an eye on them as I have a few mates that support them and it is about an hour from me. 
 

They’re better than their results suggest. Often competing in games and they have been hit by late goals too often. Which has stopped them pulling away. A lot of draws, too. 
 

Throw in the fact we’re not great away from home. Then I think it’ll be tough. 
 

I think we’ll do Brentford. Wasn’t particularly impressed by them last weekend and we’re just miles better at home. The way they play should suit us.

Just watching the second half back. This happens way too often and any decent side will have a field day with it.

 

Leicester are just knocking the ball about at the back and our midfield 5 all move up to press: 

 

 

The defensive line doesn't move with them. Vardy drops into the space and one simple pass later they are 5 v 4:

 

 

Nowt comes of it because Leicester are really bad but a decent team makes something of that more often than not. 

 

We have to be more proactive with our defensive line. Some speed would be really valuable in CB, as much as I love Burn and Fab.

Difficult trade off. As you will always leave gaps with an all out press. It is risk/reward. 
 

It’s like blitzing in American Football or Rugby. It leaves space in behind. But when you get it right, it is worth the risk and some teams favour it more than others and have the right players for it. 
 

I know we get caught too often when the press doesn’t get home or the triggers or players are the wrong way round. I saw Gordon and Isak arguing about it, for example.
 

But I think yesterday we just went even more balls to the wall than usual. As we realised they offered pretty much fuck all going the other way and weren’t good enough on the day to consistently pass round the press. 
 

We play a lot better when we get the chance to play with high intensity, press high up and stay in games level or have a lead.
 

The fact we have moved away from that for a lot of this season and the fact we seem to concede sloppy goals early on, along with us rarely scoring before the half hour mark. Has highlighted some glaring weaknesses with our personnel and tactics.

yeah, I edited in a bit suggesting we need our defensive line to be more proactive but that will require recruitment of some pace at CB, as much as I love Fab and Burn.

Our centre halfs lack mobility so if they switch off for a second they are cooked. It also highlights the oft complained about issue of our 3 midfielders all wanting go squeeze high without the defence line having the ability to step up.

Botman more mobile than given credit for pre-knee injury. Hopefully he can begin to get back to that form in time. He was much better at closing down space or following his man and pressing the same way Burn and Schar often do now. 
 

Guehi also has a lot more pace than our CB’s, along with being great on the ball. So makes sense we went for him.
