If that’s a carbon copy of last season then I am afraid that’s the ceiling of Howe, which we probably need to accept since we couldn’t find someone better And here I was thinking that you were such an optimistic poster. With all of your pessimism, you've been consistently wrong. Is it worth inhabiting that space then? Edited January 17 by Vinny Green Balls

With all of your pessimism, you've been consistently wrong. Is it worth inhabiting that space then? You and others probably got my message wrong. There are a lot of similarities re this run and the performance in 22-23 season, which shows how GOOD Howe is, when we are able to give him a solid starting eleven and injury free squad. I don’t think it’s something related to changes Howe made to his own approach (not his tactics, he did change that). As I have said, we probably can’t get anyone better than him outside. However, next season, we will be back to Europe, or even ECL. The extremely demanding schedule will hit again. The “solid starting eleven and injury free squad” will likely be gone, and we don’t have capacity under PSR to massively improve our squad depth. It waits to be seen how Howe would and could take this challenge, and I don’t think he can perform magic to change the outcome (lower league position, fatigue squad, cup run without results), which is what I mean, his ceiling. It doesn’t necessary be Howe’s fault. It is just what he can do at his best under the environment we are in. 1 year later, if we really crashed out again in the early stage of ECL, and staying in the middle of the league table, instead of calling Howe out, may be the club, the fans, and Howe himself, should evaluate thoroughly what the squad is really capable of and make decisions to give up some competitions and focus on just 1 or 2. That’s what I mean, “accept the truth”. Instead of going all-out in all competition and crashed out due to fatigue, I would rather just focusing on league and give up all others, including ECL. With our starting eleven, and just focusing on those 38 matches, we have legit chance to challenge for title. Got it? Is it pessimistic to say we can get the league title under Howe? Cf Posted Saturday at 07:41 Share Posted Saturday at 07:41 We didn't crash out of the CL. We were in by far the hardest group and if not for a ridiculous last minute penalty decision against PSG things may well have been different. And on the injuries a couple of points. Firstly there was plenty of rotation and substitutions going on. Go look at our games last season before the injuries happened. Frequently using all 5 subs and rotating if players. This thing about him not rotating is a bit of a myth to me. He mainly stopped doing it when he didn't really have a choice. And secondly a number of the injuries were just freak ones that weren't really to do with game load. The sort that can happen any time and just so happened to occur at the worst possible time. That's not to say lessons won't have been learnt from that season, or that the increased load doesn't present a challenge. But I'm no way near as pessimistic about it, especially as after a few windows of pain I expect we should be able to strengthen.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted Saturday at 09:59 Share Posted Saturday at 09:59 Very important quote that, this is why I think our current form is much more than just momentum and confidence. It’s a mindset shift and a realisation that we have to think of ourselves as an elite club at all times. One who can compete with anyone but also crush the poorer sides. Absolutely, and I do believe this attitude is an important thing we look for when recruiting players. The likes of Botman who will be in a foul mood if we concede even when we win, Tonali, Bruno, Gordon… All unassuming hard workers who won’t stand for merely participating, but seem obsessed with battling, hard graft and winning.
