The sweetness of victory when Eddie continues to overcome the cartel clubs next season just increases with each passing player they hoover up as a result of their anti-competitive advantage.

He likely won't be in the conversation for manager of the season, but he's better than the lot of them. None of them have the minerals or the skill to do what he's done, and will continue to do.

Makes me love this bloke more, like. Fuck everything else - end of day, Eddie is our man.

Newcastle United have announced that they have parted ways with head coach Eddie Howe, with the Englishman expected to take up position as the new manager at Manchester United.

Newcastle are believed to be monitoring the availability of Dominic Calvert Lewin to take over as their new head coach before the start of the season, although Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing the former Everton forward to carry drinks onto the pitch.

It is widely believed that Calvert Lewin only wants Liverpool.

yep any side we can finish higher will be very sweet of the big 6. we may or may not reach CL places, but I want at least one of the big 6 behind us o the table. ideally Liverpool haha, but realistically its also ok if we can help keeping out Spurs and Man United out of CL, as that should hit their finances badly and they are the ones who are already on the fence with their recent under performance.

what will be tricky for us is the actual CL schedule and those few times where we have two tricky PL games like away to Brighton, home vs Arsenal and inbetween a tough away game to Barca, PSG, Inter etc.

we deffo have 2-3 of these fixture nightmares after September, and with our high tempo style it really needs to click.

I’m glad I don’t live in your head, Chris!

This summer has been an absolute disaster so far, and it is staggering that he went to war with Paul Mitchell over transfers, came out on top only for him and his team to serve up this complete shit show over the summer.

Mitchell must be at home laughing his head off at the shambles how our summer window has turned out, comedy gold for anyone who is not a fan of the club and a complete embarrassment for us.

Isak should have been told to get his head down and we would look at any transfer for him towards the end of the window, after we had done all of our other business and a replacement was lined up. Instead we have let the signing of a CB and CM be placed on hold whilst we stumble around in slapstick fashion like we have Fred Karno’s army leading our transfer activity.

It isn’t too late to turn it around, but as it stands, the 2025 transfer window is looking like an Eddie Howe disasterclass, you can’t demand control only to have your team make such a shambles of it and you can’t use it as an excuse if our season suffers because of it. If you insist on having your nephew run the show then you have to take responsibility when the nepotism leads to us going backwards.

Time to tell Isak he is staying and focus on significant upgrades for Wilson, Longstaff and Kelly, which shouldn’t be hard.

Well, that’s a whole host of complete nonsense you’ve spouted.

Two immediate things stick out as complete bullshit, which renders the whole post nonsense:

- at no point has Eddie “demanded control” over transfers. In fact, if you go back to his interviews early July, Eddie says how much of a blow it was to lose Mitchell because “we had stability”.

- he doesn’t “insist on having his nephew run the show”. He has worked very successfully with him for years, but it has not ever been intended for Andy Howe to be in charge of negotiating deals.

Do you think we are losing out on players because our negotiations have not been up to scratch?

I don't think so. I just think cartel clubs have more pull than us currently and we are not going to win if we go toe to toe with them.

Matt has obviously gone a bit far

But this is the second summer in a row or chasing targets we couldn't get over the line. Something doesn't work within our recruitment that should be evident to everyone.

Don’t think it’s eddies fault. Also pre Paul Mitchell we hit on basically all our targets, so “not fit for purpose” always rubbed me the wrong way

To be fair, if the DOF is unable to make final decisions on signings, it’s fair to say the DOF doesn’t have the control on transfer. Then who in the club has the control?

Mitchell was a horrible fit, the job he was sold wasn't the job he got and that's on top of all the other issues relating to bad attitude etc.

Wider problem to me is I imagine whoever we hire in this position the job scope will be different to anyone else in the league. We need a counter balance but we probably aren't going to get that

Last summer was primarily a PSR issue, although of course there was the whole Guehi saga. We never really planned to do much other than that though.

This summer has clearly been a disaster so far, but the factors, from my understanding are:

- being left high and dry by Mitchell with little warning, thrusting people into roles they’re perhaps not comfortable / capable of being in.

- aiming for, not necessarily the “wrong” targets, but targets that we are competing with the big 6 for. It’s ambitious, but so far, it’s been a major realisation that we have a firm ceiling when it comes to targets like that.

- the Isak situation has certainly fucked up the strategy further. As of the start of July, Ekitike was SUPPOSED to be replacing Wilson. After that an entire shift has had to take place, essentially paralysing the rest of our business until some form of solution is found (whether that means an agreement with Isak for another year).

I may be mistaken, but i'm fairly certain that Matt1892 was the guy that, just before the cup final, said he wanted Howe replaced (not necessarily before the cup final just in general) and compared our football to Ten Hags Man United, as well as saying Iraola was a better manager

That post above is also his first since we won the final.

"Eddie Howe disaster-class" ffs.

Does the director of football have “full control” at any club? Managers have and always will have a significant say.
