I have to wonder how long Eddie is going to want to keep spinning straw into gold. It has been a really difficult, albeit fulfilling, run in charge and yet again he is being let down by the shocking trainwreck that is our transfer policy. 

 

To be clear, I don't see any signs outwardly that he's considering leaving or that he's unhappy, I'm just speculating that, were it me, I'd be absolutely furious that the wealthiest owners in world football continue to fund our rivals while dragging their feet on making critical decision after critical decision. I'm sure they feel comfortable doing that because Eddie has been so good at overachieving. But it can't last forever.

I don’t see him ever walking out on us just as season has started, but if England want Howe in 2026, I’m 99% confident Howe will take it.

 

He must be beyond pissed at this summer, and after winning a cup, what’s there left to do? Clearly hasn’t got the structure here to push on, so may as well lead the country at a home euros.

But for me that’s with a caveat that the Newcastle job is the best for him to do that, but he can’t be enjoying it if he goes into another season with minimal backing and turmoil upstairs.

Unless the hospitalisation has dampened his appetite for full time work in football, I can’t see him being interested in an international job for a decade or more yet. The bloke is too hands on. FWIW I am also not sure his minute detail, pattern based football would translate well into an international setup either, given the relatively short time spent training together
