It’s hard to call how many points we’ll get. Bournemouth and Brighton are games we never seem to win, West Ham could be fighting for their lives, same with Forest.

Arsenal a hard game at any point but they’re going to be bang up for it. Could work in our favour obviously if we go and shithouse it.

Would be more shocked if we went on a good run rather than had a disastrous ending. No real good feeling at the minute, crowd could get toxic at home etc.

I just think we'll finish the season the same as we've gone all the way to now. Seven games left, we might win 3 or 4 if we have a good run. I might enjoy them a bit more with the pressure off since there's not much to play for. With one game a week the full pelt high press stuff should work a bit better.

7-9 points - too many ready for the beach, a few ready for the worldcup and a fair few looking to move.

Interested to see if anything changes tactically. Brighton and Bournemouth at home are always fun games ;)

Really hard to say what we'll get out of the run-in. You've got two teams we traditionally struggle against, the league leaders away, Palace who are about as unpredictable as we are & then three games which could be dead rubbers or have something riding on them for one or both sides by then.

Probably 8-10 points you'd imagine. Win a few, draw a few, lose a few.

The derby result was always going to amplify the mood either way though and impact the rest of this season. Had we won it (on the back of beating Chelsea and ManU) then I'd genuinely have backed us to perhaps pinch 6th. As it is we collapsed in the second half and the natural negativity has also been amplified too. Personally I've already written the season off and think we'll finish about 10th and miss out on Europe altogether. The mood will be pretty vile and the derby results are the overriding reason why imo

We may well see a gradual improvement in results as we return to one match a week, but it'd be nice to the likes of Miley, Ramsey and Woltamade fully integrated into the side. They're the future, so we might as well treat this period like a glorified pre-season and get everyone bedded in (fitness allowing).

Looks like some fans can handle the ups of supporting a football team but can't for shit handle any of the the downs.

You'd think anything after Cashley is an up.

Might be an opportunity for some people in the ballot for home games to get a ticket as the glory supporters probably won't bother applying for any more games as we're not fighting it out for a champions league spot anymore. They've probably lost all interest in this season now.

With the remaining fixtures.

Crystal Palace (a)

Bournemouth (h)

Arsenal (a)

Brighton (h)

Nottingham forest (a)

Westham United (h)

Fulham (a)

How many can you see us getting?

I've got 4 points at most with a win against forest and a draw at palace.

Jesus. Glad I checked in.

If we somehow did what feels impossible and finished with 7 wins from 7, for a total of 63 points. Would that then make this season a success and paper over all the flaws we've had this year?

I'd say it would end up being an average season then. Not a success, not a failure.

When you look at the state of us in a lot of games this season you could go through those games on a game by game basis and have us lose all of them. We know we'll get at least about 10 points though. Our problem this season is we could win against Palace but then lose at home to Bournemouth in the next game. I think we'll end up finishing about 9th.

Yeah. Up and down till the end is my prediction. Pointless guessing individual results at this point.

Have said all along that if we're still within spitting distance in May, something could still happen, and am maintaining that for now.

Going back to one game per week will help performances (surely...) but it's not like it gives us an edge; it's the same for basically everyone else.

Think Eddie needs help with different/better coaches alongside him for tactics. Once we’ve had to move away from the ‘outrun’ model we’ve looked shakey.

Man management, team spirit and motivation is Eddie’s strong suit.

Must be a tactical genius out there who’s not a people person.

When was the last time Howe added a new coach to his team? Genuine question because I'm not sure. If it's been years it could be a good idea to get us going again with fresh ideas. IIRC Jones worked wonders for us when he came onboard years ago under Bruce so something similar could help.

Surely Howe is tactically of a very high level? You’re making him sound like he just tells people to believe in themselves and lets them get on with it

I agree it would be nice to see more/different coaches mind.

Yup, its a lazy analysis.

Howe has proven over time that give him time on the training pitch and he will build tactics and gameplans to win games. He hasnt had that luxury for the majoirty of this season whilst trying to overcome the shitstorm of the forwards situation

He can certainly play a good system if he has the right players to play it. The question marks arise whether he can play a different system when he doesn't have the players to play his preferred system.

I always use the example of SBR for this, when he first arrived he used a more direct style because he had Big Dunc and Shearer up front, but then as he got his own players in, he switched to a faster passing based game which exploited pace more.

I think Howe is a thinker, but it maybe takes him a while longer to adjust to tactical changes in the game, and that reflects in his in game management as well.

How you could’ve watched countless teams play through us, and not just this season either and decide that when it comes to tactics and strategy, we absolutely can’t be improved upon…I mean, you’ve made your mind up regardless of what happens on the pitch.

Ian, lovey. You said the same thing about Pardew. You’re completely loyal and will defer to not criticise the manager whoever they are. When it’s someone as good as EH you’re even less likely (imo).
