If Howe stays we get the likes of Connor Gallagher and Liam Delap next season, it’s a recipe for mediocrity and a relegation battle.

He needs to walk away with his head held high, or the club need to make a horrible decision and sack him.

The former is the preferable option and the club needs a huge shot in the arm with an ambitious appointment, it might be a younger manager from Europe, but it needs to be someone who can get us playing football that is watchable again.

The club treat us as customers now and the place will be half empty with much more shite served up like that today.

That's nonsense mate like, all the talk is of us looking to the continent where better value is to be had. The whole point of bringing in Ross Wilson was because of the job he did at Forest.

I get the negativity, but i can see a lot of smart buys coming, with or without Eddie as manager.

If we make a big sale you’ll see PL experience with a few younger players from abroad.

Gullit did.

The idea of making an announcement now that he is leaving at the end of the season is pure fantasy too. What if he then wins the remaining games? How stupid will the club look then?

This isnt Alex Ferguson we are talking about. We have spent a fortune with players that the manager chose and are heading for the bottom six with atrocious, unwatchable football. He needs to go now. Top clubs are ruthless, not awash with sentimentality.

Yeah, so not what you said then. Well depending on who the experience player is.

i wouldn't trust  any current manager in the top 6 to do what Eddie has done with us or Bournemouth ,The club let him down like we did we Keegan and sir bobby

This is the crux of our issues. We're not a top club, not revenue-wise anyway. I'll grant you this season has been poor and the football needs to be better, but until that changes, we can have anyone you like as manager, things aren't going to be any better than they've been in this era.

I don’t really buy the “club let him down” angle.

He’s been backed with huge money, had time, and had a big say in how the squad has been built. At some point it can’t always be “what’s above him”.  The  performances, the patterns, and the results are on the pitch.

And let’s be honest, players like Elanga and Wissa are exactly the type Howe would’ve pushed for regardless, even with the best Sporting Director and CEO in place last summer.

You can’t talk about being let down when the same issues keep showing up week after week.

Sorry but this is simply not true. For instance, we get Iraola and things get better immediately. And if not him, the idea that another manager could not get a better tune out of this squad is bollocks. We have a £130m strike force that he refuses to play ffs. Howe has actually craftily almost gaslighted the fanbase into thinking he is unreplaceable. He's a genius with the media, I will give him that.

Still none the wiser really about who is responsible for our disastrous summer transfer window. Who signed off on Elanga, Wissa, Woltemade etc?

Eddie Howe. Don't tell me any of those arrive unless Howe okays it.

They have. Going into the transfer window without a DOF & CEO is amateurish, its nightmare stuff. That said he needs to take some responsibility for the flops we have signed.

Oh, I don't know. Howe's underperformed for sure but the psychic damage done to the club of the Isak saga still hasn't fully healed. Any less useless of a structure above him and we're not signing 8th and 9th choice W&W on the last days of the window and who knows how the season goes. It really exposed a lack of mental resiliency and bouncebackability at the director and above level.

Lots of opinions on here and can understand some of the comments even though I may not   agree with some.

The downhill slide was without doubt caused by the Isak mess. Who caused would be down to many people with our previous DOF at the top of the list

The club were reeling at the way our whole preseason was destroyed. We tried to buy players and failed and were left to buy 2 players at the death who no one else wanted. I can imagine the uproar if we hadn't bought anyone. The signings gave the fans a little glimmer of hope but that soon evaporated after a few decent games from Walt and the complete no show from Wissa

A lot of so called top managers would have just walked but Eddie has tried to battle it out.

Pretty much all of this. He’s also boxed himself into a corner by sticking with his favourites who are 2/3 years passed their best. Now he’s got the ultimate dilemma of these experienced players having a massive downturn/leaving and the big hitters signed at the start of the project wanting to naturally move on to that “next step” in their career.

He says one thing but his body language tells another.  He looks clueless as how to turn this around.

Wolt was signed once the season started that was the only option we/ he had, Wissa was isaks replacement after all the other failed signing we deffo failed him

We were after Wissa for a long time, not buying that. He was the Wilson replacement. Wolte? Who knows? He looked Bayern bound, maybe we saw an opportunity.

We’re shit from top to bottom. Where once there was a real connection between the club (Staveley), manager, players and fans there is just fuck all left.

In most cases I’d say sack the manager, but in this one I think I’d rather sack the board, owners and players. Then maybe the manager also tbf as he’s not covered himself in glory either.

How, why and when did things turn to such shit?

Think his days are numbered after today, would prefer all the deadwood etc to go but there’s so much it’s easier to just get shot of the manager.

and because of the failed signing he wanted ,Wissa ended up being the isak replacement that got fucked early, Howe has a damn good record with transfers and improving players bar this one

I wasn't talking about this season specifically, the entire era. we've over-achieved massively overall or do you think what's he's achieved is about par? Because the progression hasn't been constantly linear and the going has gotten tough, it's time to get rid looks like. Are we going to do this every time a manager has a down season? Or does out trajectory always have to be upwards without interruption? Because that is pie in the sky. I'm not defending today or the season in general BTW.

If you look at the constraints EH has worked within, I doubt anyone else could do better across 5 years. Do you honestly think Iraola (who incidentally plays a very similar way and system to EH), wouldn't flame out after a bright start? Is he even someone we'd have a chance at recruiting anyway? What i'm getting at is, show me a coach who can work within PSR/SCR, get us from near relegation to CL within a year and win us a trophy and actually wants to come. And if he exists, he's probably either someone not attainable or someone not willing to work at a club with a revenue so far behind the top 5.

Honestly, you can have the opinion that Eddie's time is done, I won't argue too much. I'm not Howe in at all costs. Just don't expect some elite coach to come swanning in no bother. Honestly, the speed PIF move at, I shudder at who would come through the door.
