They voted the wrong way if so

I mean it could be either right, who knows what other fans are thinking, It was more just that it could be super positive Newcastle fans, or it could be super negative Sunderland fans, or it could literally be anyone.

I just thought it was interesting how different that result was to ours.

"The club failed to secure any of our first choice targets and failed to keep hold of Isak so we were scrambling at the last minute" is a pretty straightforward defence.

It's a pretty shit one.

Wissa was a first choice target, in fairness (Wilson replacement). We first bid for him in July.

The ones we didn't get were (arguably) the Isak replacement.

Think we originally wanted him for about 25/30 million as a Wilson replacement/ backup option . Was only when the Isak stuff happened and we obviously struggled to get anyone else in that we basically just panicked and massively overpaid for him to be our first choice striker .

Also, when asked about Wissa and Woltemade last week, he mentioned there being 'a potential partnership there'.

They'll be sat in seats next to each other on the bench Saturday then.

Selling clubs held the cards as soon as rat boy stomped his claws...we paid their demands out of desperation.

Not first choice target is not a valid reason imo. How many clubs out there can always get their first choice target?

We shopped in the wrong market simple as.

We tried for players other big teams wanted and we couldn't compete on the wages front.

Mitchell would've had a load of good alternatives lined up you'd think. That's why I think he walked out on us early pre season.

The ones above us in the points total since EH took over.

Most of the fans whos opinion i respect either think Eddie should stay and be given the chance to rebuild or are open to him going provided there is a coherent alternative.

The ones who i dont respect have been trashing him long before this season, and dont seem to give a toss about his achievements. In fact most of the same people consistently have takes on transfers, the club ownership and the manager that reeks of entitlement, its people who I can only assume have never set foot on a football pitch or understand anything about anything, never mind football.

Ah we are back to disrespect and entitlement, jolly good. It's been a while.

Whether they would be good alternatives we'll never know. But he would certainly have been shopping in different markets.

Eddie clearly refusing to walk away from a £6mil a year contract.  From his presser the next four games sound crucial to him keeping his job.

Falls apart under the tiniest bit of scrutiny when the first choice targets were also coveted by higher profile teams than NUFC who can easily outspend us without much strain on their resources.

Like my lass complaining that the kitchen cupboards are bare and me saying that I wanted to buy a trolley full of groceries at Harrods but when I got to the till I realised I couldn't afford it so had to put it all back on the shelves.

The ones who think they know better than people who run football clubs and persistently talk about "knowing ball" etc. Those are the ones i dont respect the opinion of. Thankfully I dont surround myself with those people in the real world.

Eddie Howe on the Matfen Hall summit: “It was constructive. The owners clearly care so much about the club. There is long-term planning on a number of levels. There are exciting times ahead, regardless of what happens short term. The long-term ambition is there. The desire is to get to the top of the Premier League.” “There is no change in terms of the support & infrastructure and how people are working. I’m pleased with the support for me. I’m here, I’m working hard and I’m committed. My motivation levels are high, but I’m under no illusion, I have to get results to keep that unity and trust.”

Weird.

I talk about knowing ball and have criticism of decisions/behaviours of the people who run the football club. Yet - I've never wanted Eddie out. I've never thought he was beyond reproach and noticed negative patterns at his best - which is why i'm largely unbothered by those same pattterns now results have turned (pre-planned subs, reactive to goals rather than play, overemphasis on PL experience etc.)

I think you've taken a super hardline where if anyone criticises anyone at the club - you can't stand it. You can't critique the owners or the manager, if you do - you're ungrateful and spoiled. I don't think that's a sensible way of looking at things or the world personally.

I think there's valid grounds to want Eddie gone. But there's not enough justification for me. And I don't think his coaching/managerial performance is the primary cause of our underperformance. I think it's a poorly assembled squad. But I can see and to some degree respect an alternate perspective. I am worried he's lost the belief of the dresssing rooom.

However positive the summit was, we do need to finish the season on a high otherwise the questions over Howe's future will rumble on.

I reckon a couple of wins at home are needed just to turn the tide.
