If Hall isn't following instructions then he literally has no other choice?  He's reasonable for the team and results at the end of the day.

But that same game Murphy just left truffet not once but twice. Did howe ask him to do that?

Just watched the presser. Unfair to accuse users of exaggerating Eddie's Hall comments.

Pretty rough remarks, and this bit stood out for me:

"Don't talk to me about Hall. The little cunt can suck my plums. Why the fuck did he not jump for that cunting cross, the hobbit fuck!".

Remember when our early struggles this season were blamed largely on not having Hall (and Livra) availbale due to injury, so that we had to play a 33 CB at LB? This was often used as a bit of an excuse for poor performances. Well, here he is playing Burn over Hall on purpose, something that was deemed a "massive handicap" earlier in the season when Hall was out.

I do remember that.   That's a fucking brilliant point

If Hall is left out tomorrow and effectively carries the can for our utterly shit defensive record (1 clean sheet in 20) I think it's incredibly harsh on him. He was shit in that first half against Bournemouth but it's about the first "bad" game I can remember him having, whereas Thiaw, Botman and the two idiots with the gloves have had numerous stinkers in that run. Even on an off day he's usually a solid 6/10 level performer.

Be interesting to see the lineup tomorrow anyway, Hall might start and suddenly the notion he's been blamed for our defensive record becomes a Harry Enfield Self-Righteous Brothers sketch.

Hall was just rotated out because Arsenal are tall and can head.

The other player mentioned, Pope also made errors that led to goals multiple times before he was finally dropped.

Got to be honest my faith in Howe has completely gone. I have seen nothing at all from him and heard nothing at all to suggest he’s the man to turn it around.

The comments the other week about not doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome, when that has been the story of our season.

Doesn’t take Mystic Meg or GregGShore to tell you how we’ll lineup tomorrow

So what is the lineup going to be tomorrow?

He's arguably our best player to drop him for height is crackers.

That game against arsenal was there for the taking.

Why didn't he get minutes from the bench arsenal were shaky makes no sense.

If you're getting relentless negativity drummed into you constantly it'll bring your mood down. Doesn't matter where it happens, in the pub, at graft, on here.

If fans carry that into the stadium on match day, the negative atmosphere can and will transfer onto the players

Yeah, I do take that point tbf

The one theme from the press conference was results. I’d still be surprised if he survives a further 4 game losing streak and the damage that will do.

His comments re Hall and regarding number of players being ideal to bring in are worrying, a leopard doesn’t change his spots and stories in the press this week that insiders have riled at the level of rebuild needed, suggests if Howe stays it will be limited.

I hope we win today to bury any lingering doubts about our safety, but it’ll not change my mind that he’s not the right man at this point.

Well you can argue that it’s the PIF that tell him no major rebuild is allowed. Howe has no choice but to find excuses for PIF. Who knows.

If Hall hasn't been following instructions, I'd be concerned about what the instructions were given that the lad has had maybe 150 cumulative minutes of not looking our best player this season.

I suspect it's more that Eddie is trying to fall back on things that he feels have worked in the past.

If it wasn’t for being spoilt by all that success we had in the 1950’s Eddie wouldn’t be getting this shit. Victim of being a successful club.

It ended up looking stupid as they just changed up their routine and won the game from a short corner, but Burn to defend set pieces against Arsenal is one of the few games I can actually see the logic.

Yep, I’m non-plussed by the criticism re picking BDB at Highbury.  Howe’s logic was sound I think

Glad Jacob Murphy is following the managers instructions to give the ball away every time he gets it, shirk out of tackles and struggle to track runners or else he’d have to be dropped too

By the quotes sounds more like a tactical decision than anything else, having read them again, which he explains and attempts to justify. Like he says there are pros and cons to any selection decision that is made.

But it's being twisted into something else.

I understood starting Burn for the reasons he said. But that went out the window once they scored from a short corner. It also massively hamstrung us second half when we needed more quality going forward but we used 5 subs and Hall wasn't one of them. So we still had Burn trying to run up the wing and offering fuck all.

If he doesn't play today against one of the fastest agile wingers in the league and we leave Burn exposed and massively reducing our attacking intentions then I will start to believe that Hall has either told the club he wants to leave in the summer or a bid has been tabled by another club.

It would not shock me to see City swap from a bid for Tino to a bid for Hall instead, so that O'Reilly can move into midfield. Pep seemed to really like Hall when we played them loads this season.
