wormy Posted Saturday at 16:16 Share Posted Saturday at 16:16 You do have to wonder what he's going to do if Man City and Chelsea both win today. It's just not on.
madras Posted Saturday at 16:30 Share Posted Saturday at 16:30 The only one that surprises me is Barnes not coming on earlier. Wilson would have been an obvious one. Also possible that there's been an illness thing, Tino had been out with illness and I'm sure Kelly had been earlier.

BottledDog Posted Saturday at 20:08 Share Posted Saturday at 20:08 4-0 4-0 3-0 2-0 2-1 Just can't understand the positivity when anyone with eyes (and a mastery of numbers/scorelines) sees that Howe is taking us backwards here. It's incalculable how many goals we'll be conceding in 8-9 fixtures time, but it may be as many as 17 a game!
Sibierski Posted Saturday at 20:14 Share Posted Saturday at 20:14 Our press was good again today first half. Feels we’ve finally got that sorted out recent weeks which has helped the change in form. Also the CBs are being aggressive again to pressing up. Occasionally it’s catching us out with lack of pace, but it’s a style we have to stick with so new plays can slot in easily. Does feel a RW and a CB with genuine pace, and we go up a solid level and cement ourselves as a top 6 side that can regularly be in the top 4 push. And the way the table is looking so tight it could be pretty vital.

Big opportunity to change that in the next two games - we got nothing from Man U and Tottenham last season. Then an important fortnight for us in the second half of January: Wolves H Bournemouth H Southampton A (in place of Sheff Utd) Fulham H We got 10 points out of 12 from those fixtures last season, but it feels like it will be an achievement to repeat that this year. +5. Noice. Seen a fair bit about us having a nice run of league games coming up, as though we've done the difficult bit, but I don't think it should be taken lightly at all. By fans and media I mean. The players have looked really nicely businesslike for a while now. Wow this thread's quiet when we're not crap.
alexf Posted Saturday at 22:24 Share Posted Saturday at 22:24 Yeah said it in the other thread. But if we get through the "easier fixtures" then I think we're on for a serious finish to the season. But agreed, these games won't be easy by any stretch. The expectation to win, coupled with fatigue and other factors means they aren't sure things. But congrats to our great manager for putting us in a great position to potentially kick on.
Heron Posted Saturday at 22:30 Share Posted Saturday at 22:30 Will be a fantastic time to really gather and harness momentum ahead of 2 really important semis and hopefully a final. When we went into the final last ti e we had just had a barren period.
Keegans Export Posted Saturday at 22:33 Share Posted Saturday at 22:33 The way he manages to turn those occasional poorer spells around is amazing. We had the little wobble around the League Cup final, got us back on track to finish 4th. Looked like we were going to really drop down the table towards the end of last season then put a run together and finished 7th. This season we've struggled for consistency (like most of those around us) but we've beaten three fellow top 5/6 hopefuls in a row now and reigned in Chelsea's lead to one point. Managing a team on a high is one thing but we've seen it with managers of other clubs - once things start to slide, they can't stem the flow.

Its much of the reason for my 'blind loyalty' in those spells. All we'd be doing is paying off a coaching staff to pay to bring in a coaching staff on the off chance that they'd do what Eddie has already proven he can do. Abacus
Got around to watching his interview with Simon Jordan on YouTube last night. His answers were spot on, but not only that his dead-eyed stare at some of the obvious bait questions got Jordan to admit that baiting was exactly what he was up to. Nothing gets past Howe. Best manager in the league in so many ways.

For all that Jordan occasionally says something complimentary about us or something actually rooted in reality, he is - and always has been - an industrial-grade bellend 🖕
