Can see that being the case with Tarkowski. Burnley are apparently saying they would rather lose him for nowt in the summer rather than sell to us in January.

Fair enough, he'll be a lot better value for the princely sum of £0.00. In the meantime we'll spend that money on Botman and/or other rising superstars.

If he's denied a move he'll do a Fraser but earlier on and protect his assets. Why put his livelihood on the line for a club heading out of the division and he missed the opportunity to join something very unique? Be a bad move for all involved if they deny him a move next month.

The Athletic have a piece up about our prospective window which I find a bit bizarre.

they are talking about the risks of over spending and release clauses and being stuck with players but none of that actually matters right? Even if we were to get relegated you would imagine the kitchen sink would be thrown at it to get us back to the premier league thus rendering it moot.

as long as PIF are on board money isn’t actually an issue only FFP is.

But relegation will destroy what we are able to spend according to FFP.

And I wouldn't put it past the PL to introduce a rule saying something like all newly promoted teams need to pass an ownership competence test

One season in the championship won’t destroy us under ffp. We have so much potential to raise revenue regardless and this isn’t even including the potential loopholes.

if the PIF are in this for the long haul we have nothing to worry about.

Less tv money, however sponsorship deals will continue, parachute payments, ST money, we’ll be ok for a season and of course we can continue to spend on infrastructure which isn’t affected by FFP.
