Sky Sources saying midfielders & full-backs to be the priority. If only they did this for Rafa last summer.

After they've acquired a couple of forwards, surely?

I'm most worried about that they will sell Longstaff when a "good offer" arrivres. Saw yesterday how much worse we are when he is not on the pitch. We looked clueless!

why be worried?  let him f*** off to a real football club and be a millionaire, good luck to the lad

Exactly

Just as well we're sorted for goals then.

Amazing how no matter what the question, no matter the circumstance or situation, they manage to get it exactly wrong

Because Longstaff is a special local lad. One who comes across once every 15 years I'd say. He is exactly the player we need in our team. If we can make him stay he will be an important player for years to come.

And I really don't think Ashley will last another year.

You're in for a nasty surprise.

Longstaff needs to leave for his career.  Training under Bruce isn't going to help him develop either

Ki, Shelvey, Hayden and Longstaff is a decent four and we can probably cope at left-back for another year. Depends if Bruce sticks to Rafa's system or goes with four at the back.

Basically, STRIKERS PLZ

if bruce is going to have any hope of success, assuming hayden leaves, he's going to need an athletic type to get up and down the pitch and break things up or we're fucked

colback and saivet it is then

I think the key for success is 5 at the back, dicepline, one strong striker that can hold the ball up and two pacey forwards on the counter attack.

...and of course Longstaff with a decent partner in the middle!?

Longstaff and Hayden are quality, they just won't be here come Arsenal.

I can’t see them, especially Hayden, as being anywhere near as effective as he was under Rafa. He improved no end under his tutelage.

Colback and Shelvey would be the least mobile if you are judging on athleticism.

Been ages since we were talking about the lack of legs in midfield, in a way it will almost seem nostalgic to watch two heavy legged plodders gasping for air after a 10m dash.

I'm assuming every player to be about 25-50% worse next season. Think that's about right.

I thought Hayden wanted to leave?

Id get rid of Shelvey and look for someone more mobile but then then we've got Steve Bruce so it doesn't matter.

i'd say that's about right as an average, there will no doubt be an exception or 2 that like bruce's methods on some level but overall i fully expect them all to get worse

He does but he has for ages. And we're up to 18th July, so the poor lad might still have to wait.

 cuts right to the heart of it there hahahaha

There is no hope in having a dynamic midfield with Steve Bruce.
