The first signing of the new era and what a fucking signing he’s been.

Some boy to come in first, be a hero and still manage a redemption story arc at the end. Classic script writing

If you are referring to the Mitchell comments? They signed Kelly and Osula immediately after he signed on so maybe already in the works? One was immediately peddled and the other can't see 5 minutes while up 5-0.

Now, those other windows? Genius level stuff, one and all. Let's see what Mitchell does with a budget and time to evaluate.

Last January I would've been quite happy to bomb him out, he looked completely done. Shows what I know.

Not only is he still a quality player, the intangibles he brings to the squad with his leadership, experience and calming presence is worth more to us than whatever measly PSR value he could fetch us.

It's just very heartwarming. Whatever happens in the summer is with my total blessing, but seeing him back where he belongs - in terms of both the pitch and esteem - is great.

Any chance of a 12-month extension? Perfect for 20 starts in all comps next season.

Is he out of contract? Thought he had another year

I would definitely offer him a new deal.

I think its clear the drop off in form last season conicided with his personal/marital issues, which he seems to have worked through in a way to get his mind back on the pitch.

Steadily this season, as he's got more game time, he's getting back to his best form for us.

Potential CL next season, we still need experience and squad depth, so on current form its a no-brainer to try and keep him here, unless he wants/needs to be away for his family.

Think 2026 is a natural parting of the ways.

He'll be nearly 36 then, with Tino another year experienced. It's great he's got his spark back, and if he's happy with his surroundings, him staying for final year is great for us based on this form. Means we don't need to make any moves for a RB, or if Targett was to leave, we could get a raw youngster in who's got 12 months training before taking over squad competition.
