Kieran Trippier

Yorkie

Recommended Posts

Just seems like an awful lot of distraction in his life which has potential to derail his form for the coming season.

Couldn’t give a fuck about what he does with England. Club always before country in my book.

But at what point does that seep into the rest of the squad as a distraction?

Either he sorts his shit out or he should move on. Am sure Howe is aware.

I feel people are incredibly harsh on Trippier, he had a rough November/December, then his form picked up, got injured, then was rushed back and wasn't himself. All in all how many bad games has he actually had for us?

Turning 34 at the start of the season.

If we get a decent offer we'd be mad to turn it down, epscially with the last few days fresh in mind.

House is probably up for sale because he’s just moved into a new one near Morpeth

I'd like to keep him for now, the money isn't everything. Livramento backed up by Krafth would be risky and Tripps has seen and done everything in football. We don't have many experienced players in the squad at the moment.

Just old mate. Not his fault but no one beats father time.

I think he's probably good for another season at the top level, maybe even two seasons. The only reason people are talking about selling is because he'll be worth nothing next season.

Let's say we can sell him for, say 7.5 mil and save £5.5 million on salary. That's a decent chunk saved for one year.

On the other hand we also lose significant depth at RB and lose one of our team leaders. The guy in our squad who's actually won a major European trophy. Unless we plan on buying another RB to replace him I'm pretty confident having Trips next year would be worth a few points at least which could well be the difference between getting a european competition or not, or even which european competition.

Just to add a little tidbit of info I have... nothing concrete (more opinion I guess)... but I'd still be surprised if he leaves this summer. His family are VERY settled into life in the north east... the house is for sale, true... but from what I've been told that is simply because they're moving / have moved to a different house. Some of his extended family moved up in January. His friends groups (and his wife's) seem to be (outwardly at least) speaking very much like they're here for the long term.

Just to clarify, that's not concrete info, just my sense from chats I've had.

I'd like to keep Trippier for the coming season too, primarily as a rotation option for Livramento.

Don't agree that we should keep him due to lack of experience in the squad though. We have one of the oldest squads in the league. Only "beaten" by West Ham and Fulham. This is from an article posted 26th March:

People forget how many assists tripper got despite missing the end of the season with injuries. He did have the odd stinker (Everton and man utd' but overall them assists far outweigh the mistakes. I think he's worth one more season. Despite what people think of Southgate, trippier can't be finished if he's playing for England and even getting a game in the wrong position. We should be grateful we've got him for now at least.

On a similar topic, if we got longstaff out the door then we'd be losing goals from midfield. Bruno, joelinton and tonali are superior players but they won't score more goals than longstaff.

I mean there seems to be a love in for tonali when he's basically pissed a chunk of his career away and it's cost the club massively in the process....longstaff plays through the pain barrier receiving injections and hes the poor fucker getting tons of grief.

Now if we can sign a goalscoring midfielder who can shoot (or at least try to now and then) then longstaff stays also

I heard very similar at the weekend, info was from a friend of a friend who knows Trippier

"we're just moving house, not breaking up or moving clubs" is the message the family are putting out there if asked
