Yeh it’s not going to be enough.

im not talking this summer. But I can see in a year or two us selling a talent for 60m+. If that was Botman that would be a 50m or so FFP profit.

I hope we avoid that. But if we aren’t going to juice the sponsorships, we’ll need to optimise FFP sales. That means selling star players.

Loads of money will drop off the wage bill next season which will help. All the lads they paid to go out on loan, Wood, Shelvey, Fernandez with some sales added on. Couple of new headline sponsors and increased TV money will see not have to do too much to sign 2-3, maybe 4 first teamers from outside the PL/1 year left.

Be daft to sell anyone who’s played regularly this season IMO unless they kick up a stink.

At some point I can't help seeing ASM as that one. Not sure he'll ever be a first teamer for the top teams, but he's still young, and definitely a high impact player if you need a DIY merchant.

Sponsorships will grow and sometimes offers for players come along that are too good to turn down. But it's not as if we are having to sell.

Unless we consistently outperform the top 6 in the transfer market and in coaching. Or juice sponsorships.  We will have to sell some top players to be able to compete in the transfer market and be compliant with FFP.

We’ll need to at least match the bottom 2 teams in the top 6 to consistently compete. But they have a lot more FFP room to navigate. FFP makes football a closed shop unless you game it somehow.

We are the new kids on the block as far as FFP is concerned.

We have to create our own sustainable revenue and this will only happen when the players we buy get identified as some other big clubs' piece of a jigsaw and they decide to offer massive money.

It's about us being shrewd in the early days to gain the readies to eventually compete at the higher end.

Unfortunately the Botman's and the Bruno's are always going to be the jewels for collection by the major hitters who have already bypassed the FFP to some degree, early doors.

Assuming our owners are allowed to actually carry on owning us then we will always find ways around all the attempts to sabotage our push into the elite positions currently enjoyed by the usual suspects.

For every loyal die hard club player of quality there will always be those who have their heads turned for the Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG type clubs....for now, until we gain better traction with an influx of overall quality that propels us into regular league and cup challenges and then we will become a catch for the bigger players.

As it stands we are in transition and it's a transition onto bigger things, not a flash in the pan attempt to play with the big boys for 5 minutes and then fall to pieces as we have done before.

As long as Newcastle United are allowed to play in the same playground as the accepted elites then we will progress very strongly. It's exciting as hell and a breath of fresh air when you consider we've been run as a bit part premier league club to cater for the elite clubs' round of games as basic general cannon fodder along with another 13 or so clubs.

Or all 3. Sponsorships will be "juiced" but so as not to fall foul of the new rules brought in because of us.

Expect a few new "partners" in the summer which will be priced at the higher end of where we are.

Take this with a massive pinch of salt, but a friend told me that the company he works for were one of many approached about shirt sponsorship (domestically and internationally) and we're looking for circa £20 million a season. It was a non-starter for them though.

I read in the Athletic that the smallest shirt sponsorship of the "big six" is around £40 million, while the largest of the rest if around £8 million.

It's a massive gap man.

If we even half-way play by the rules. We will need to sell star players at some point. And at some point, we'll have to risk getting sanctioned. Arsenal are close. I think Arsenal needed a CL spot this season to avoid being curtailled in spending by FFP for next summer.

Feel as though we're just taking for granted how good he is.

Wish he'd scored at the end though

Definitely a bit of that going on. Surprised to see one or two talking about dropping him after the last couple of games.

Snatched the fuck out of that chance on his right peg at the end, of the move of the match. Fuck I'd love to see the celebration if he'd finished it

TBF even if he’d air kicked it I think it was Ritchie behind him waiting to do exactly the same.
