At the moment though I think it's a blessing in disguise for him that whether he likes it or not, we're not pushing his body to the brink of collapse again so he is able to play 50-60 games every season in the future. gbandit Posted September 13, 2025 Share Posted September 13, 2025 I don’t think their levels are that far off from one another. Burn is consistently at a minimum a 7/10 every game and often an 8/10. His distribution is less expansive than Botman and safer but he’s extremely accurate and good at his short passing. Botman is similar standard really defensively, perhaps slightly less consistent positionally but better on the ball. Don’t think it’s clear cut at present who should start even though it will become clearer because of Burn’s age. SAK Posted September 13, 2025 Share Posted September 13, 2025 There will be plenty of games for him and Thiaw for that matter. He’s coming off a long term injury and had a recent injury so needs to be worked back in slowly to prevent reoccurrences. If Schar and Burn are playing well and have no injuries there’s no need to rush him back. Let Botman work his fitness back up, get some minutes as sub at first then later on some starts.
