Once they are done we can wheel and deal with a few outgoings, see if we can get a decent RW. I'm convinced we will get at least 1 quality player on a free early doors. Less than 25m per player doesn’t typically get you very far these days.
Guest HTT II
Wilson is worth keeping, he scores goals when fit, I’d keep Wood too. We need one star quality forward IMO to make the difference. An attacking right sided winger or forward would be most welcome alongside another CB and a CM. I’m not fussed on the ‘keeper just now, it’s the last of our priorities. Guest
Lloyd Kelly would be a quality signing too by the looks of it.
The College Dropout
I would sell any Ashley era player in the squad with a good offer if we’ve identified and confident of getting a significant upgrade.
STM
Bare in mind, even with this squad Eddie Howe would have us close to a top 10 finish, which is confirmed if you look at the form guide since he took over and since we signed a few players in January. It makes perfect sense to me that we would look for quality over quantity. I suspect we will make most of our transfers from abroad, since we will get no value in this market. Agreed. Howe is definitely more evolution than revolution and will want to blend new blood with the existing team.
Papavasiliou
Selling Wilson or not depends entirely on if he's willing to warm the bench. If he's fine to be a backup I'd keep him but I wouldn't want to stand in the way if he'd rather look for 1st team elsewhere.
Abacus
I don't think Wilson could complain about warming the bench. He's so good for us that when fit he always plays, until he gets injured again. It would be good to share the burden a bit with another striker (or two). He'll be more than aware of his own injury record, so I'm sure you could sell it to him as proper game management for a change, to keep him fit and ultimately playing for longer. Stottie
I'd definitely keep Wilson. My temptation would be to use him as a tried and trusted fallback, and gamble on a potential sensation like Ekitike. If Howe likes Lingard, him on a free would also add proven quality and flexibility across the front line. I wonder what the Eddie Howe masterplan is. The 4-3-3 is working well, but may not be the intended destination. If so, the midfield situation completely changes. Just on the "Project", but if the next target is is Top 8, that should be possible without smashing the wage structure at this point. There will be clamour for big names in the summer and lots of agents and websites putting our name out there for attention, but I don't think we need big earners just yet. An overall strengthening, organization and squad unity should get us to that goal. Getting into the Top 4 is when you start needing superstars. The Prophet
I'm more than happy for Wilson to remain in and around the first team, but his minutes will need managing. He could probably still start 30 games a season.
The College Dropout
What’s the current wage structure? Bruno is our highest paid player. If we are secure in the PL we could go for an even better calibre of player. Raphinha or Nunez would smash our transfer record and subsequently our wages. I think any player we sign now should have the potential to be a top 6 player unless they’re coming to fill a gap.
arnonel
I would be happy with a fit Wilson as the main man, and future superstar on the bench
LV
The problem is there is never a fit Wilson for a whole season
Cronky
We're evolving into a more possession-based team rather than relying on hitting the front players directly, and I suspect that will suit Wilson more.
BoSelecta
3 out of Kamara, Nunez, Moussa Diaby, Paqueta, Raphinha, Botman plus 3 or 4 more in the Burn/Targett mould would do nicely.
Solitude20
The target is to finish in top 6 in the league next season. If we were to achieve that, I definitely don’t see Wilson as the main striker (do you honestly think Wilson could secure a starting position in teams like Arsenal or Spurs?). The same goes for a few other positions, including the right winger and the central and attacking midfielders.

That's not saying I don't respect what a great player Lacazette was. You have also conveniently left out Man Utd, who would be improved by having someone like Wilson up front. Neither would have him, but that's more to do with Wilson not being a big name. Yes we need a striker but Wilson can have a big role to play for us. Also, who says top 6 is the target? 6th to 10th would be a fair target next year IMO.
SUPERTOON
I’m not too keen on Botman, only based on the little I have seen, just feel there is better value out there.
STM
Id like throw an arguement in for signing Bale, hear me out. We need to look like we mean business, that means signing known players/stars and although Bale is past his best you can see he still has massive quality. We also need a squad of players, we can't be relying on Almirons, Murphys etc, going forward. When building a squad, we need to look at short term and long term. Yes we need to prioritise spending our transfer budget on players for the future like Bruno/Botman/Nunez etc but we should also be looking to add players who can bolster the squad with quality for relatively little transfer fee. Let's be honest, Bale probably wants back to the PL, he understands he's no longer going to start every game, he also understands he can't demand the same wages he's on now. Presuming his contract would end at Madrid, I'd be well up for signing Bale for nothing and giving him a 2 year deal. People also forget one of Bales best qualities is his aerial ability, get Trippier delivering crosses for him and he might contribute 5-10 goals for us next year. The point being, aside from our main targets, which should absolutely be players who the club can look to in the long term, we shouldn't turn our noses up to ageing stars who could put us on the map again. It's about utilising every area of the transfer market. Imagine the shirt sales from signing Bale man.
