Dan Gleebals
Diaby would be unreal. Surely going to take a massive fee to get him here so suspect he would be the icing on the cake and then focus on shifing a load of players.
The College Dropout
If 9th is the target we can get 2 out of striker, RW & CM. If we want to aim for higher, we'll need all 3. Not to say we can't get higher with just the 2. But that requires both transfers really working. Like the season we signed Cabaye, Ba and Cisse. The College Dropout
The outgoing transfers will be last. Nobody will be rushing to sign Jeff Hendrick. A lot of them will be loans rather than sales too. We've let them go stale.

The Prophet
Tielemans may have been taken out the game by fresher legs at SJP, but he absolutely ruined us at the KP. He totally ran the show.

He totally ran the show. Players get done for pace at times, it in no way means Tielemans is too slow or not able to control a game. There's loads of talented players who control games that will get done for pace by quick players in certain scenarios. Definitely not a reason to buy if we can because Willock once done him (and with a class bit of skill, not just pace).

sushimonster85
Feel like all this Tielemans talk is a good opportunity to have another reality check-in. Remember this time last year where the only Leicester midfielder we had any hope of landing was Hamza Choudhury, and even that was never going to happen. Now we're turning our noses up at Tielemans supposed lack of pace.

The Prophet
https://theathletic.com/3394548/2022/07/04/newcastle-eiktike-harrison-broja?source=user-shared-article Some interesting snippets in there, but mostly a concise summary of what we already know. The interesting parts: "For now... Newcastle are assessing the market, where their finances stand and determining which of their back-up forwards they will pursue. Newcastle had a list of reserve names ready — who have been scouted extensively and for whom preliminary background checks have been undertaken — but it is unclear yet who their new forward target is." ... Diaby is "top of the wanted list for a right-sided forward — which, alongside a young striker, is the primary position they hope to strengthen... Similar to the striker scenario, though, Newcastle do not feel under pressure to act rashly and will survey the market until a player they believe can improve them for a fee they deem as value for money presents itself." ... "Identifying release clauses and trying to negotiate decent fees for players entering the final 12 months of their contracts where possible also feature prominently in Newcastle’s strategy. In terms of this summer’s kitty, Newcastle have never confirmed it, but it is believed there was around £70-£90 million available for incomings, which could be bolstered with outgoings. Around half of that is still thought to be available. Ideally, Newcastle will sign a striker and a right-sided forward, which would take their summer additions to five, but a midfielder could yet be sought, too. What’s more, Howe has always made it clear that, regardless of position, if a player of interest becomes available, Newcastle may move for them, so I will not rule out further additions beyond those." ... "Part of the reason Newcastle are evaluating their incoming business is because they recognise the need to move players on. With three additions and only two departees Newcastle have 32 senior players — that’s before they make further signings. There has been tentative interest in some of Newcastle’s available players — most notably Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie — but mainly on loan, with only part of their wages covered. Newcastle would prefer to sell Ciaran Clark and Jeff Hendrick, but may need to accept loans, although ideally, Dan Ashworth, the sporting director, wants options, if not obligations, to buy inserted into deals." Nobody
What a world we're living in when Tielemans is considered slow because Willock, who is a very pacy midfielder and came on as a sub, skins him in the 94th minute

gdm
There was a compilation clip on twitter from diaby yesterday from 1 game and he apparently had the same amount of goal contributions in that one game as Murphy, Almiron and Fraser had combined all season
