Not sure we fly him to Newcastle as the first step mind

For a deal that could be worth around £30m it’s not unusual for an agent to fly out for preliminary talks

Pretty sure Ashworth and his agent where in Austria together last week or close by weren’t they ? Any initial talks would have taken place then

The concern has to be the fact we are still massively short in the front areas, not in respect of players but quality.

The message we keep getting knocked back with our initial bids is a trend now. Fees maybe higher however the trend isn’t much different to when Lee Charnley was negotiating. We used to low ball constantly in line with the perceived value.

As the richest club in the world surely this should not still be happening.

You're right. Clearly our current strategy will render us unable to sign any players of real quality. Like Bruno. Or Botman. For a combined SEVENTY MILLION POUNDS.

Jesus...

It’s pretty simple like, we will only buy high quality players, especially in the final third. The very best of these players are unlikely to come right now so we have to target quality that will improve us to a top 6-8 side and not be redundant in two years’ time if we manage to get into Europe. We also don’t have the commercial revenue in order to spend ridiculously just yet

Our Ekitike bid was accepted, and also publicly stated by the Reims owner as being higher than the Milan bid. If the player doesn’t want to come, it’s nothing to do with negotiating. Our owners still have to work within FFP, which due to the previous owner has been neglected beyond belief- as such any wealth is meaningless because we can’t just go out and spend it.

But you probably know all this.

Well done, you've certainly gone to knew depths of stupid in this post.

You've managed to compare our current set up with the previous regime, despite us paying nearly 150m in 2022 and then also asked why the richest club in the world isn't spending money quick enough.

Go away, have a little think, then come back with a better effort.

Yeah but this time we are bidding upwards of 30 million, under Ashley it was less than 15

No need to be abusive with you opinions. Your obviously an intelligent person therefore I’m sure you know opinions are part of life and when someone doesn’t share the same ideology it doesn’t mean they deserve to be spoke to in such a way!

Okay, so the actual reality is you don't even know who we've bid for, or whether or not we've been knocked back, but carry on.

The facts are that fans are all in and showing this with their actions too: shirts and merchandise sales are probably as high as they’ve been since the Keegan era, clamour for tickets or memberships hasn’t been as prominent since the 90’s therefore when we are spending all this money to back the team we will expect signings especially when it’s evident short term the team needs them and long term the team has to have them if we retain Bruno and Botman.

If that's true, then fair enough.

When all is said and done this window we'll have the players we need. Under MA and Charnley, we just made offers that wouldn't be accepted until the window closed and we got no one in, so not sure how the current ownership could ever compare to that.

And the facts are that we have already spent a load of money on signings, both in Jan (the highest in Europe iirc) and already so far this summer. With undoubtedly more to come.
