It's not over until them fucking media cunts give the old "Ekitike only wants Liverpool" tweet. Until then, we are still in this fight.

Im just hoping weve got out in front with our proposals and Liverpool are left scrambling.

I actually think we’ve played this really well, given our current limitations. Making this bid now when we have no intention of selling Isak forces Liverpool or anyone else to change their strategy completely. The outcome works for us either way - we either sign Ekitike and we’re laughing or we force Liverpool to the table on a deal they’re not quite sure about and complicate any Isak interest.

None of us know what the specific offers are, or what the specific wage difference would be, but while I’m sure it would be difficult as a professional to turn down Liverpool, we are a massive club in our own right and have pursued him for 3 years. Liverpool have pursued him for 3 hours. I would have to think that makes an impression on Ekitike.

Anyway, I think our transfer strategy has been really sound here, regardless.

And Scalvini at the back

Just for the laughs we should get Guehi instead since it seems clear they think they can just pick him up for nowt next summer.

Seriously though, we could still could end up with him. Liverpool are trying it with us, unfortunately we can’t compete with the wage they will offer right now.

We can compete with the wages they can offer, but firstly we don't want to and secondly we don't want to face the possible PSR repercussions further down the line.

Well we bid, and after that Chelsea came in with not a much bigger bid. By reports Pedro only wanted Chelsea, so why did we bid? Reports could be bullshit, or Pedro bullshitting us.

Or no one knew Chelsea would come in.

You can come to Newcastle, who have been chasing you for three years, and are still wanting you even after you and your agents fucked us off. Going to put you in a four four FUCKIN two with the great one, Alexander Isak.

Or…

You can go to Liverpool, who don’t really want you, but are just buying you to piss off Newcastle.

Ekitike might also have been burned by playing for an elite club like Isak was with Dortmund.  He had offers from Real Madrid after dortmund but joined Sociedad.  Ekitike may think the same and Isak might not want to join liverpool after that as well.

Didnt Ekitike get messed about somewhat in the Muani deal where he was treated as a makeweight/pawn for a big club? It worked out for him at Frankfurt but probably left a sour taste.

Anyone else still think we will get Ekitike? I think how much we want him will work in our favour.

Must admit, in the absence of anything contrary, he better not be “waiting for better”.
