I don't see why we wouldn't get him. We've been in contact since he went to PSG, we seem to have almost or agreed a deal with his club. Liverpool are fucking around but surely he's not going to pick them just because it's Liverpool. Not even sure they want to buy him.

I understand why clubs pay these journalists/influencers 

 

Putting the fact they can control to the narrative to us lot aside, but why would Liverpool pay Romano/Ornstien to say what they have, I'm sure our transfer team aren't sitting on X waiting for updates about what Liverpool will/won't do, rather I'd assume that Ekitike/Frankfurt/Liverpool would be in dialogue with us about the current situation??

If honestly offer the release fee now. They accept and we sign him. If we make him choose and he goes for those cunts then they'll probably have to match the release fee too. They want him? Make them pay through the nose for him, bleed the cunts dry

It puts pressure on clubs.

 

In Isak’s case, it makes Isak know that Liverpool are after him, so there for it could lead to Isak asking for a transfer or holding out for an official approach.

It also puts us under pressure in contract negotiations.

Thiat's why this whole saga doesn't really add up for me.

 

Ekitikes release clause isn't unreasonable. Fuck trying to shave off a million here and there, just pay the money ASAP to get him in before anyone else can get their act together. If Ekitike wants to wait it out and see who else will come in for him, fine, that's his perogative and if that's the case we were never going to get him anyway a la Joao Pedro. But in doing so, we'd be dragging Liverpool into a negotiation they didn't anticipate/want. Either they fold and let us have a free run at Ekitike or they pay the money to cock block us but as a result write off any dying hope they had of tempting Isak. Liverpool don't strike me as the kind of club who will pay in excess of 250m for Isak & Ekitike.

Makes sense, but I'd have thought this would all have happened internally first

 

As in, I'd assume Isak was told by both us and Liverpool that they would like him, for around £120m, and we've said no. 

 

Telling the tier 1 journalists this doesn't affect us/Isak/Liverpool, it just puts the fans of both sides into overdrive
