It always feels like he has a monster 10-15 mins after a mistake. He gave away that free kick then spent the rest of the match just getting his body in between the ball and opposition. Basically killed the game.

As boring as it is I think giving up that free kick isn't necessarily a bad thing. Always takes two minutes to set up everything and freekick goals are just so rare nowadays with the free jumping walls and massive Nick Pope in goal. Honestly rather give them that freekick than getting constant balls played into the box for those two minutes.

Wouldn't be surprised if soon some team's analytics experts actually started to suggest hacking down people around the box in these situations.

Baptism of fire for him as captain today. Grew into it, got the impression it was playing on his mind a bit at first. I've got full confidence in him.

Never doubted that he’d still be here this season 🖤🤍 He’s in love with us [emoji38] Him and his family feel it back too. Can’t wait to see him with Sandro in that midfield 3 with Big Joe.

Honestly thought he was an incredible captain, he was masterful in 2H.

My only worry with him being captain was whether he'd go off the deep end by trying too hard, but he did very well to battle really hard without going to far.

It's mad people were on his back a bit this time last year on here due to him having the audacity of having a few 6-7 out of 10 performances. :memelol:

I'm pleased for him, but I do agree he needs to work on his temperament because he loses his head at times.

Since his 9th booking last season, he’s been a different man temperament wise.

That's what I was going to mention also, when it got down to it he was able to go ten games or whatever without a yellow. I think the responsibility of captaincy will drive him to act more rationally if anything.

Trippier is the perfect captain so won't be easily replaced (yeah Lascelles blah blah(. Just a ploy to keep him happy I guess.
