HawK
2 hours ago, TheBrownBottle said: True - though ultimately money is money. I’m not sure all of the NUFC support is aware of just how far behind we are in economic terms - and that the gap has widened since the takeover. Most NUFC fans likely view Spurs as the club we’d be looking to overtake. At present, Gateshead FC’s turnover is closer to ours than ours is to Spurs. The gap is absolutely massive - and gradual, incremental growth is never, ever going to close the gap. If the owners won’t bend the rules, won’t slap sponsorships all over the shop, and are going to take a lifetime to build a new ground, then the only option is to sell for big profits to close the gap. A part of me thinks that if the only sanctions are points, then what's the harm in spending the fuck out of ourselves and take the short term hit on points to build the mega team for the medium term. It's not a one off points hit, like We'd be getting a points deduction every season. You can pretty much guarantee they'd bring in even tougher sanctions if we went out and deliberately took the piss too.

Like Jaqen said, we’d be deducted points repeatedly and the penalties would likely be stiffer in every successive season

Aiston
Cannot remember the last time he played well for a good run of games really. It goes for the rest as well (not Hall/ Tino) but he is meant to be our best player.
kenlau88210
I thought he played well earlier in the game but faded in the 2nd half like the rest of the team. He been playing game in game out for ages he probably needs a rest

He has to be towards the attacking portion of the midfield he has the vision to slot Isak in. The Liverpool game showed exactly how the three should and could work. Unless there was an injury Howe cocked it up not playing the same three again .
Lush Vlad
He was dreadful today. But quite a few of ours were. Just more noticeable when it’s your talisman and captain, I guess.

Menace
I've come to terms with him moving on - shit for both parties but it is what it is. Big clubs have sold big players to move onto the next step. I don't think he's completely happy here either by the looks of things which is understandable really.

He's not consistent enough to go to a top team in my opinion, this season he's had maybe 3 good games?

Barnes23
The whole team is underperforming massively at the moment across the board, and has been for some time - I don't see much point in over-scrutinizing the performances of our (best) players absent that vital context. There isn't a single player who has been consistently at their best this season so far. Bruno is easily good enough to play for any other team in the division. Nepharite
We need to be ruthless and sell Bruno in the Summer. Love him to bits but it's got to be him for money bought in v loss to the squad.

I think that's more to do with his lack of athleticism and not because of his form, which has as much to do with how the rest of the team are playing as much as what he's producing. I think the PL is played at such a pace most teams would sacrifice a touch of skill for someone with a bit more mobility within reason. Is Rice more valuable than Bruno for example? Totally agree, said this since day one. He has a fantastic engine but in a lower gear. He lacks a turn of pace or real speed to be considered world class. He's fantastic at receiving the ball under pressure and protecting it and recently he has showed more of his vision to pick a pass higher up the field. I definitely feel he has levels to go, if playing further forward, with confidence and with better options around him. Not sure Longstaff, Murphy, Joelinton etc are on his footballing brain level. As a 6 he is too easily bypassed by speed and never recovers to get back, he needs to stay as an 8 from now until the end of the season or until he does sack it off, in my humble opinion. I still think he can be a top 4 player for what it's worth, just would need some legs around him, and yes, probably playing alongside a dedicated no 6 who can cover gaps when he loses the ball on the odd occasion. He'd be great playing for City alongside a Rodri for example, but a disaster in the current City team which has too many players with the same profile. Yeah, I think we all know he'll be great in the city midfield once Rodri and their shite streak is over. Sadly he might never fulfil his potential here.
