LiquidAK
The armband isn't the be all and end all. We need leadership on the pitch beyond just Bruno and beyond who's wearing the armband. Stripping him of the captaincy would be mental though, he's the heartbeat of the team and it'd hurt his relationship with the club. At that point you might as well sell him as I don't know how you repair that. Much prefer we get some more leadership into the team beyond what we've already got in Burn. What I'm trying to say here is that Bruno is great as captain from a being representative of what this team is perspective, but he needs help with more leaders in the team, or for the experienced players we already have to step up and share the load Edited February 23 by LiquidAK
Keggy_Keagal
He's been a cracking player since he's been here and has been a foundation stone of Eddie's Newcastle from the side that avoided relegation to the side that got in the Champions League to the side that's fighting this season for top four and is in a cup final. There's been several games this season where he's been brilliant. All players have drops in form or spells of games where they're not at their best and every player does have his price but he's way down the list of players we should be looking to move on. He was abject and not for the first or even second time since January.

He was also fine first half in a role that everyone and their dog acknowledges isn't his best. We've a long tradition as a support of slating our top players when they have a bad game or two seen it so many times over the years whilst far shitter players are given cult hero status. He was a long way from his best and he's had some iffy games here and there but he's absolutely one of the best midfielders in this league.

He’s capable of so much more so it’s extra frustrating watching him just falling over and looking at the ref. 10th highest for accurate passes out of the two starting XI's Edited February 23 by JigsawGoesToPieces
Newcastle Fan
Absolutely Awful today i thought, looked so weak and kept losing the ball, i sometime feel like he need players that complement him like Tonali and Big Joe to really shine, as he's not physical enough to force himself on a game like this. Harry 209
No one's above criticism and he has deserved criticism several times this season. But I don't know why our fan's can't keep it respectful at all times. It should be respectful criticism, unless he shows the fans disrespect. So many rude fans need a lesson in how to communicate. M1tche
It's either 1 of 2 things:- 1, He needs a little rest 2, He's having a little identity problem within the team. He's no longer the main focus of everything, and has to play a more set role within the team. It's the 1st time that's happened since he's been here. Pilko
Really wish he'd stop trying to buy fouls so often, he is good at it usually but there were quite a few occasions he did it today and the ref just wasn't having it, probably due to the frequency of him hoying himself to the floor. KaKa
Whenever we're playing badly and the other team is getting stuck into us and causing problems, Bruno's reaction is to start trying to do too much and to start getting riled up. Considering he's the captain of the team, these are not good traits at all. More worryingly, we don't seem to have anyone in the team that tells everyone to calm down and keep their heads. Instead it's quite the opposite. Schar, Joelinton and Gordon are also more likely to lose their composure and force things. Botman and Tonali seem to have the right temperament, and the requisite level of experience, but don't seem the most vocal. We really need to sort that dynamic out. Lush Vlad
I still think he’s top quality. But he’s been nowhere near as effective for us of late/most this season.

Bruno loves whipping the fans up into a frenzy, which is ok I suppose, but I sometimes wish that he would keep calm.

Me too, don’t think it’s in his DNA to do so (then I think back to that spell when he was on a yellow card from a ban tightrope) and beyond all things he managed to do it! cubaricho
Is he doing a bunch of quiet work that I haven’t been noticing or has he been off the boil for the last couple of months? He has just seemed pretty anonymous recently. Maybe I’m missing something?

Not up to his usual high standards.
