I thought he was really good yesterday. The midfield 3 as a trio were brilliant imo.

Notably when JT switched it up in the 2nd half. Total dominance!

Thought he was pretty (relatively) poor for large parts today but unsure if that was just because of who he was playing next too.

Noticed that he quite often starts to shine at the end of matches. Thought he was brilliant from about 60 minutes. Quiet otherwise, but I think we've come so accustomed to having someone in midfield who does the simple thing so well that we maybe won't notice it until he's missing.

Tonali and Bruno are world class. Best mf duo I've ever seen in black and white

Bruno & Tonali

...

Lee & Speed

Lee & Batty

Cabaye & Tiote

...

Parker & Emre

With our previous pairings, I don't think either player could walk into a world XI, but were very effective for us at times (OK Parker & Emre is a bit of a joke submission).

Tonali & Bruno could be first names in their position on a World XI team sheet. Who else is in the conversation ? Rodri ?

If we finish top 3 this year (big If) - is he our greatest captain of the premier league era?

I mean he did lift a trophy as captain but hard to look past Shearer, for now at least. Consistently bagged shitloads in plenty average teams.

But if you ask that question in 10 years, I suspect the answer might be yes.

bitt of an underrated performance from him - thought live he was having his best game in ages, was everywhere. Involved in every goal bar the OG too, after watching the highlights back.

Yeah, I thought so too.  I thought that was his best game in yonks - he was just purring away in midfield

Said the same in the match thread I think it was. Looked much sharper and better. Could see in the highlights that he was behind a lot of starting moves. Hopefully he’s hitting his best form for the rest of the season.

He hasn’t been bad or anything during the season, absolutely not. It’s just when he’s at his best he’s at a ridiculously high level. Top top player and personality.

I kind of laugh when I hear pundits and others talking about us needing CL would go a long way to keep the likes of Bruno. There’s ZERO chance he would leave us in the summer unless ridiculously high bid and we literally forced him to leave. We could lose the rest of our games and he wouldn’t even think about leaving. Genuinely loves it at the toon.

Sometimes you see Bruno and Tonali playing close to each other as a ‘double pivot’ as I think it’s called. Bruno looks very effective and comfortable like that. I think if we got a player in the style of Cunha who is a physical 10 type then the formation could effectively change to a 4 2 3 1.

He's been excellent lately, but today's performance in isolation has been nowt short of disgraceful.

Hopefully back to his best next week.

His lack of athleticism has been massively exposed this game. He’s also had a head loss early doors and never really got back on it.

Shit game from all of them. Move onto next week.

Bloke sees the red mist so easily.

They came out with a plan to wind Bruno up and it was pulled off with ease.

Bruno cannot handle being targeted.

Fairly sure he’s covered more ground than any other player in the team this season.

Sorry. If you want to be a pedant. His pace then. But I’m sure you knew that already.

He is slow as fuck and often half a yard too slow to get to the ball or make a tackle. Which was magnified today against a very athletic, sorry, quick side. Who are great at passing between the lines.

He was getting done for acceleration and sharpness regularly by Tielemans FFS
