I mean obviously Ancelloti isn't going to manage his minutes, that isn't his concern as the coach or the national side.

We haven't rotated well but our options are somewhat limited as we somehow have 3 injury prone central midfielders. Unfortunately for us that means that both Sandro and Bruno were getting absolutely flogged this season.

Aye.  But I thought Ancelotti(?) forced Eddie into resting Bruno twice and Eddie just said ‘once is good enough.  Done.’

Bruno has played more minutes than Rice lately with more travel.

ancelotti made him play at altitude days after already having qualified for the WC, but changed the other 10 starters.

Aye. But he’s our player.  So cos Ancelotti fucked it, I hoped Bruno would get a decent rest.  I was surprised by the Bournemouth rest and assumed he would be rested in the cup too - that would’ve been ideal.

Bruno had a game off at Bournemouth and his work against Bradford was very light.

He was everywhere against Bradford, I would hardly describe it as a light workout.

But it wasn't particular taxing or intense like a PL game, and we dominated the ball for most of it.

Probably no more intense than a Howe training session.

I can understand if we thought sitting out Bradford too would've been too long without playing.

I just thought in a game where you are cruising and there's no doubt about the result, take him off after 45 mins and give a run out to someone like Willock who looks perpetually rusty.

Yeah very fair, I'm just saying it didn't look like he was worked that hard. Also think they might've been using it specifically to work on more vertical passing.

Do you think he looked super fresh against Arsenal?

Hard to say, we obviously struggled to some extent but I don't think freshness was the issue. We just had to work really hard without the ball and Arsenal have the best midfield options in the league.

Thought Bruno was ok. He's our only consistent creative passer of the ball. Was a difficult game for him as the midfield was very crowded and we didn't apparently have a game plan to hold on to the ball for more than 3 passes.

Sometimes you are just beat by the better team, Arsenal have the best midfield in the prem. I am confident we will see him at his best soon.

Good words. They outplayed us (this time…). I thought Bruno looked at times incredible against Bradford (I know…) and I don’t subscribe to the view he’s shown poor form all season. He’ll get into his groove and put together a more consistent run of form. He is a first class  footballer and that does not change (at least not at his age).

I actually agree with you, I don't agree with the poor form narrative - it can be very output driven. Our next run of games we will tell
