And it goes back to my gripe about Miley. He’s not trusted for serious minutes. It’s Tonali and Bruno that will suffer. Bruno in particular who has played so much football these last 2 years.

it's bizarre because if you want someone who is going to keep the ball first and foremost then Miley is a good option

Should have brought Miley on after 60 mins

Aye. Zero excuse. Can understand the rumours of his agent pushing for him to move on, if this situation continues. He needs minutes.

Granted there is the travel and international game this week but he has been sloppy and walking/jogging back all seadon in games.

Bruno has taken his foot off the pedal a bit because he is the terrace darling. Its dangerous as we know parts of the fanbase turns quickly when lazy or sloppy performances start being consistent. I think he might take that kind of rejection badly. Hopefully the coaching staff can just get him back on track and focused. Tonali is picking up all the slack and thats not sustainable.

He’s such a non factor off the ball imo. And the gap in involvement and general presence is gigantic.

Not a dig at Miley. It’s the gap between a starting Brazilian national team player in the prime of his career and club captain vs a talented but obviously inexperienced 19 year old.  That gap is unacceptable for a team in the CL that hopes to requalify.

I agree Miley needs more minutes and Bruno today should have come off around the 70th. But other than that I think what you've said is an overreaction to a slightly below average performance from Bruno.

Maybe. It is very early in the season. I am sure he will come good again.

I do think he has been sub par all season not just today though. He has stuck out like a sore thumb not tracking back at times in games when everyone else is busting a gut. Its early in the season and he just might not be fit but I am not seeing the same focus and performance level we have been used to from him.

What a load of shite [emoji38]. He played 90 mins in Bolivia at high altitude 4 days ago. He quite clearly cared in that game.

I think the guy is knackered and very rarely comes off - he needs a long breather so I fully expect him to get 90 mins on Thursday.

Thursday should be fine, that's a decent gap between games and the players will be on adrenaline for Barcelona.

It's Bournemouth on the Sunday where Howe and the fitness guys need to manage things

Did you not see how he single handily dragged us back in the game against Liverpool?

Not sure tracking back and work rate are things you can point to as lacking from Bruno.

I haven't seen what you have I guess. I have seen a bit of sloppiness/indecisiveness with the ball but he's pretty much always running (even if slowly), evidenced by the fact he has covered the most distance in the PL for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons.

No idea why he played the full 90+, was absolutely fucked for energy all game. Sick of seeing him doing complicated stuff on the ball when he has easy options. It’s alright now and again but he overcomplicates it too often

Thought he was still one of our better players. Players like that will lose the ball sometimes, but his close control under pressure means he's responsible for keeping the ball a lot more. By his standards a so-so game, but still one of our better players for me.

Hands up. All justified criticism to my knee jerking.

I've put him on an unrealistic  pedestal for consistency of what we know he is capable of.

I stand by the jogging/walking back comments this season and hoping he cuts out the dramatics and gets on with the game when the ball is in play. But the latter is who he is ansld the former likely doesn’t take into consideration the running he has done prior to those gassed moments and that I am a moron. Also doesn’t help seeing Tonali being next to him with superhuman stamina and endurance through 90 mins and to an extent Joelinton.

There aren’t many people on the board who’ll walk back an opinion or temper it after people criticise them. Massive respect for that. I generally agreed with your first post though. I don’t think his effort and commitment to the club can be called into question but I do think it’s not fair on him to play him for the full game after two full internationals in Brazil where his body and brain are clearly failing on the day.  It’s not an unfair criticism to say he needs more breaks to be the best player he can be

Was clearly tired today. Was alright first half but felt like he gave the ball the way ever single time he had it 2nd.

We are going to need to find a way to win whilst resting Bruno and Tonali at various points this season else they are both going to end up fucked saying every minute every game.

He is losing the ball more than usual, but as others have said he always plays 90 and he's a legend so let's cut him some slack. He'll be class against Barca and hopefully Miley will come in against Bourne Again.

Fairly sure Bruno was the only to not only play both games but to play both full 90s, the second game when they've qualified, seems like spite.

just poor from Carlo.

i'm sure there were 10 changes + Bruno for the Bolivia game.

surely he's want to protect him and not have him exhausted for the WC next summer.

dont understand what he was thinking.
