I've told this anecdote on here before but it sums up the state of that fraud and his team of assistant frauds.

Matty Longstaff is good pals with a good pal of mine from Shields. One of Matty's stories was like this:

As he's waiting on the touchline ready to be subbed on. Matty says "where do you want me to play ?"

One of the assistants says "get yourself over to the left side Matty"

Another assistant says "get yourself over to the right side Matty"

Matty looks at Cabbageheed for confirmation "you're the gaffer, am I playing on the left or right ?"

Cabbageheed says "don't worry about whether you're playing left or right, just go out there and do what you do"

Steve Bruce is the definition of a dinosaur manager; lazy, clueless, and somehow still convinced he’s hard done by. No structure, no plan, just excuses and that tired “we’ll dust ourselves down” nonsense. He hides behind the “good bloke” tag while serving up football so outdated it should come with a fucking VHS.

The game had already passed him by in his “prime” as a manager ffs; the entitled fraud just refused to evolve. The only thing more predictable than his “tactics” is the inevitable meltdown when fans call him out for it.

Worst manager at NUFC in my lifetime and I don’t see that changing. Despise the guy.

I remember Simon Jordan (whatever you think of him take it with a pinch of salt) referenced Bruce once on TalkSport a few weeks ago, he said when the team was playing badly he liked to hear the manager supporting the players and trying to make them feel better and try to make them believe in themselves and cited Steve Bruce among a couple of others as the sorts of managers who would do that. Nice little insight, because there has to be something there to him, he isn't a complete fraud.

Mid-post /tinhat with 'Yes I still hate Steve Bruce as much as you do' on it

He's got zero clue about tactics, his own players half the time and has a very bad memory and fills it in with feelings and revisionisms. But I guess what he did have according to Mr Jordan was the motivational skills.

But then you watch that Fabian Schar training-ground aside to the camera where he absolutely slates him and you come crashing back down to earth

Jesus, I wish I hadn't watched that. The entire time he was here, he was utterly consumed by the shadow of Rafa Benitez. A slight rewriting of history by taking credit for recommending the bloke who got Bournemouth relegated. Also, you probably want to keep quiet about the fact that you suggested Steven Gerrard.

He was talking about Rafa more than the fans were I'm sure. Massive inferiority complex on the fat mess

He's managing players at the top of their game, ultra competetive elites. If they don't see that same hunger and ability in their manager, they're going to reject it. Of course Fab hated him.

The nerve of the bloke to do a media tour talking himself up after he’s just been binned (again) by Blackpool.

Probably thinks he can fit in another destroy and exit before the end of the season. It's winter anyway, may as well earn some money.

Got a few weeks to kill before he fucks off to the cricket hasn't he, may aswell keep the grift and PR ticking over in case some other idiot wants to employ him when he comes back

I used to say to everyone that i think he's the worst manager around..and then Ashley hired him to manage us

Honestly never seen a bigger fraud, i remember his very first game against Arsenal he brought i think Jetro Williems on without telling him where to play and we conceaded within minutes from the gap that was created. Its a miracle he didn't relegate us but we were saved last minute by PIF and Amanda.

Let's also not forget that the cunt dressed like a fucking hobo for the entirety of his time here, and as soon as the Saudis turned up, in he rocks with a fucking suit on [emoji38]

I'm sure I heard a podcast with an ex-player (think it was Gayle) where he basically said that Bruce grifted through his whole time at Newcastle then the day that Staveley visited the training ground for the first time he suddenly upped his game.

There is absolutely no way that he said to the new owners that he's the only negative now and it's best if he left, that's his way of changing the narrative from the fact that he was sacked because he was fucking lazy and incredibly shit at his job.

As if the richest owners in the worlds ambition was to keep Bruce, the guy who had us at 19th. [emoji38] You could hear it in all his interviews how defensive and desperate he was when asked about his job after the Saudis came.

This guy used to fuck off to Portugal the next day after a heavy home defeat and he's got the cheek to talk about negative energy. Ashley giving this guy a rolling contract with a £8M pay off was his last fuck you to us too.

Bruce was always going to get sacked with the new owners, so even if he might have said that he was the negative and needed to go, he did it knowing full well that it was happeneing anyway & the only reason to say it was to make himself look noble and good, or to end his misery and get his payoff ASAP.

Or he's just lying about saying it to try and make himself look good.

Either way, if he did recognise he was a negative, resigning rather than getting a payoff for it would have been the decent thing - not that I blame him tbh, he had a contract, but if he's going to stake a claim to great nobility...

The Eddie Howe recommendation is obviously bullshit. Going from calling him the fella who got Bournemouth relegated to recommending him for the job, even though Howe had been out of management ever since, seems completely made up, unless he thought Howe would do a bad job and make him look better perhaps.

Think his issue with Rafa was at least stoked by and shared by the owner. What a state of affairs.  The owner of a club hating his own manager who hit every objective asked of him, just because the fans of that club adored him then hiring a lackey that felt the same way. Probably had private laughs about Rafa and the fans. That and the milking of the club was never going to come back to bite Ashley but Bruce's name is dogshit in these parts now, beneath the toadying and riches there must be some regret about that.
