could easily just allow Chelsea to give tickets away for free or sell tickets, merch, food  & bev with 100% of all sales going into escrow or an already selected charity outside of the club. Food banks, shelters, etc.

Fucking victim playing wankers, why should the Boro fans have to miss out? hope the F.A tell them where to stick that utterly absurd request.

The sports media have completely bought into / pushed that narrative though, 'the fans and staff are innocent victims', 'isn't Tuchel so noble for saying he'll drive a minibus if he needs to' etc. All the while seemingly expecting us to stop supporting our club and our manager to quit because we're owned by the sovereign wealth fund of a nation that our government is a firm ally of.

Presumably just some kind of pressure tactic to try and get some concessions out of the government in terms of being allowed to sell tickets.

Absolutely horrific look for them though.

Say if there were peace accord signed today, do the sanctions just get scrapped ?

I guess it would depend on the settlement. If Ukraine was in favour of the settlement and Russia withdrew then sanctions would be lifted.

Historically, the aim of sanctions is not to punish countries, though that is a byproduct, but rather to get countries to change their actions. If they were kept in place after a settlement then effectively we would be saying they will only be lifted once Putin is removed. The West might insist on Russia signing an agreement promising to demilitarise their European borders or something similar but that would be a pretext for keeping them in place. Similar to WMD and Iraq where the ultimate aim was to remove Saddam.

Can't see much of that happening in the event of a settlement.

What, sanctions staying in place? Personally I think they would be lifted fairly quickly. A lot of European countries were quite reluctant to have heavy sanctions when Russia initially invaded Ukraine. Those countries might have changed their stance since then but I doubt it. Or rather their resolve isn't too strong.

I have friends originally from SA and other Arab nations and when it comes to this kind of stuff, making say NUFC the biggest and most successful club in the world over buying an already (one of the) biggest and most successful club’s and just maintaining that is considered almost like a failure or rather like buying a second hand car when you can afford a new one.

Sorry, I'm too thick to work out which way round this is - do you mean buying Chelsea would be seen as buying a second-hand car because someone else has already made them big, or buying a smaller club is like buying a second hand car because if you were minted you'd have bought Chelsea?

We are aware of Chelsea's request to have Saturday's Emirates FA Cup sixth round tie played behind closed doors and find their suggestion both bizarre and without any merit whatsoever.

All concerned are well aware of the reasons Chelsea have been sanctioned and that this has nothing to do with Middlesbrough Football Club.

To suggest as result that MFC and our fans should be penalised is not only grossly unfair but without any foundation.

Given the reasons for these sanctions, for Chelsea to seek to invoke sporting "integrity" as reason for the game being played behind closed doors is ironic in the extreme.

We currently await formal notification from the FA of the next steps but rest assured MFC will resist Chelsea's actions in the strongest terms.
