They were diabolical last season. It beggars belief how they got promotion. Second best against Coventry and second best against Sheffield United. Unbelievable luck!

Won't be the only team to have parachute payments plus the Championship now has Birmingham/Wrexham in it too

They are lucky they got promoted this time, if they go straight back down I wouldn't be so sure about them coming straight back up

The odds will be worse for survival if they get off to a good start.

You know what I meant. There odds on survival which are pretty well tied in with their relegation odds are poor value.

I know absolutely nothing about this bloke they have just signed, is he any good? They seem to be getting really excited over him. The fact that nobody else was in for him apart from Leeds who obviously didn't fancy him for the price quoted suggests not .

Not every club is going to want to or be able to take a punt on a youngster costing 30m.

That this is what the selling club demanded indicates he at least not terrible. Feels like exactly what they should be doing in terms of age and likely ability if they want to give themselves a chance.

Thing is though they've sold Bellingham and bought this chap, feels like for like, so really they've probably just stood still which likely won't be enough. Doesn't make him a bad signing though.

When it looked like he was heading to Leeds a Mackem I know was saying if he was any good then Chelsea would have taken him easily due to the multi club model

However now he's changed tune and he reckons he's mint

Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle

Does their scouting network go beyond France? Isidor is bigged up, but outside him so many of their signings last season was proper shit. It was the existing players and youth that done the job for them. No guarantee that spending bigger sums on players from same pool will change that.

Big ask for this new signing of theirs to come in and hit the ground running. Might be a decent shout for another team (after he's got some leyg experience under his belt) as they're inevitably being stripped of their generational talents following relegation at the end of 25/26 :bluestar:

In fairness he played every game until an ankle injury kept him out for a few games - there’s little doubt he was a Strasbourg first choice XI player.

Aye fair enough, only looked at his who scored page which showed the last 10 or so games. Never heard of the lad before today. Fingers crossed he's the second coming of Didier N'Dong

Very risky signing for the amount of money they are paying. As already mentioned above, they are still one player down from last season (Watson) and about 15 million down on player transfers (Paid out: Le Fee + Bellingham payment to Birmingham + Diarra - Paid in: Bellingham + Watson). I'm certainly not sure that is smart business at all.

21 years old regular starter in ligue 1 and Senegal international. If this is how Boehly values players maybe we should have a look at other players at Strasbourg?

Only going by highlights he seems to be a great pick up for them. Fast, strong, attacking minded player who seems to be good in transition, which I imagine will fit a team like Sunderland well when fighting to stay up this season.
