Sunderland are well organised and athletic but aren't a good footballing side on the basis of today's encounter. Sure our fucking resident SMB or two can justifiably say they had the ever so slight fuking edge but they took 78minutes or some shit to muster up their own shot on target.

We are where we are justifiably also. Shit teams don't win cups or get in the champions league.

We took fuck all to the SoS today and they got their big day out. Fair fucks. But they're kidding themselves if they think they CL or even Europe level.  They'll drop like a stone with AFCoN and finish comfortably 12th.

Predominantly athletes with one or two ballers. Probably the same for most these days. There's levels to it. So far, you have to say fair play to the mackem bastard Le Bris.

They clearly had a very good summer window and the manager has managed to forge a really cohesive unit despite all the signings so credit where it’s due. What’s extremely frustrating is we have the players to expose weaknesses but just didn’t turn up.

Ironically success could be their undoing, teams tempted to poach the manager and players in the summer. Europe (if they go it) has shown it can knacker teams too but that’s the realism of football thesedays.

I mean, they’re absolutely shite and sums up how crap/tight the league is when they’re 7th. We managed to be worse on the day somehow.

We’re in a bit of a crisis and they’re on course for their best season in modern history. Yet 4 points separate us and they needed Woltemade to forget we’d changed ends at half time, to beat us. Game should have been -1 each really, it was that offensively bad.

Not that they will care, mind. A win is a win. Especially in a derby.

Recruitment was next level to our lazy approach in the summer. From yesterdays showing their centre backs, Sadiki, Xhaka and Talbi all start for us.

Their most expensive signing in the summer Diarra has been injured and would get a game on our right side no problem when fit going off recent evidence of our wide players.

I hate the cunts more than anyone but fair play to them.

Deserve a lot of credit so far this season

That said, hoping all their best players and manager get pillaged at some point soon by the bigger clubs :aww:

They will be in serious PSR problems next year anyway. Most likely will sell, it all depends who they can sign to cover.

Think it's Sunderland fans that are in denial about them tbh. They're very much in the 'this is unsustainable' category that many other teams have been in before. It'll definitely do the trick for what's needed this season, but they'll need to switch it up next season if they don't want to go the same way the other teams did.

Aye, fuck the copium off. Sunderland looked very poor yesterday but so did we. Neither side looked remotely good. However their home record is good and we’re in Europe so both sides are better than they showed yesterday. Sunderland will be staying up so we’ll have to get used to playing them again. However, if that’s the quality of football they’re playing every week then they’ll fall off in a big way

The team and set up from the Everton game was all that was required but no fiddle fiddle tweak struck again meaning Barnes our best player at Everton was on the bench/

Sick of this from Howe....it happens at most away games ....caution caution fiddle tweak

I thought after sitting deep for the first 20 mins, we'd quieten the crowd, and start playing more attacking. I thought we'd press them, but it just didn't happen.

Worst performance of the season saved for the derby. I reckon if the match was still playing, the score would still be the same.

Really like that Sunderland keeper, reminds me a bit of Courtois. Not that he had anything to do yesterday.

Honestly, me too. Thought we’d handled the first 20 great, expecting us to push on, and then…nothing.

First time I've seen them and I'm not just saying this but they were fucking shite.

Sums us up yesterday mind, however this breathe of fresh air shite I've read about them isn't true, cloggers who are bang average the lot of them.

We know we were terrible, they don't, fair play on the win etc just gotta take it on the chin, hurts but fuck me we rolled over for them.

Naah, you spent a lot of money. Your income is not great, so it will cause problems in 1-2 years.

You do know how PSR works?

Do you know we are in a highly positive PSR situation after building a squad from League One to Championship, Championship and up on a pittance whilst selling the likes of Bellingham, Clarke, Watson and Stewart for good money?

You have recorded loss last 2 accounting years. newest is not public, but after spending 100 + million, I can pretty certainly say that is is not positive.

Selling of those players helps for this one year. Jobe actually was sold last accounting year so his money is gone accounting wise.

They got quite a bit in sales especially from the Bellingham deal.

Transfermarkt has them on 130 million net spend.

That is a huge money for a lower table team/newly promoted team. Calculated risk yes to stay up, but there will be quite a little movement inwards in the future. Unless they manage to sell someone again for a big money.

Edit. you can compare that to what we did in January when Howe signed few players. We were in really big trouble despite getting pretty good results and most probably having a lot greater turnover than they have now.

I mean you're right, but you weren't much better. Take away the derby element and it was a poorly contested game all round, there was no danger of either team winning it without that freak goal.

I actually agree. It’s a 0-0 game on the performance side of things.
