First off, a Geordie is someone from Tyneside, heck even some people from Northumberland, and Durham class themselves as Geordies due to a connection they have to Newcastle. Novocastarians are from the city centre, but a Novocastarian is a Geordie as well. Anyway, North Shields is a Newcastle suburb. Ok I know they are not in the same council areas, but the definition of a suburb extends to areas in different councils, and is more of a ‘commuter belt’, and strong economic ties than anything else. Also Newcastle and the North East was deliberately fucked over in the 70’s with the creation of the different councils. It moved away from large regional huge counties, to cities with commuter belts. Look at the size of the likes of Manchester, and Leeds councils. Newcastle by rights should have had all of Gateshead, both of North/South Tyneside, and parts of Northumberland within its boundary. Cramlington when it was built was even marketed as a suburban commuter town for Newcastle. It was split into different councils though to skew the population statistics, to make it look like 4/5 different economic areas, rather than the 2 larger ones it really is. Teesside is similar with 3 different councils. RTG’s keep going on about how everyone in Durham should be Sunderland fans, and how places of Durham are pretty much part of Sunderland. In reality it should be the other way round. Durham was the big city, had an established university, connections outside of the region etc. Sunderland was the North East Durham town. The end result is that Sunderland has grown into a city, and they have been the winners of the population gerrymandering, the rest of the region though has lost out massively, because the government treat everywhere as smaller populated areas, rather than 2/3 major population areas. The private sector is guilty of the same. Don’t sweat it dude North Shields is Tyneside and Tyneside means Geordie Them daft cunts on RTG have barely got a brain cell between them, no point getting worked up about the insane ramblings of some dimwitted lunatics
TK-421
Aye, with the north sea swallowing up so much of their catchment area, they need to grasp at whatever straws they can, to try and boost their support, and tak owa different areas.

In fact, if Sunderland had heard about Stallones' heroics as a Goalkeeper, they'd probably have signed Frank! Edited November 17 by TK-

The private sector is guilty of the same. Novocastrians are from Newcastle, nothing to do with the city centre. Just need to be from within the city limits. So if you're from Walker, you're Novocastrian. If you're from Wallsend, you're not. 'Geordie' was always ill-defined in terms of geography; I mean, Wallsend isn't in Newcastle but it would be odd to say that they aren't Geordies. I'm far more dubious re Durham mind (though obviously not places like Gateshead, which is in historical County Durham).
Whitley mag
Born in Shields within spitting distance of Tyne consider myself 100% a Geordie, off their tits some of these cunts. They’d also do well to remember that the casualties were chased into the river Tyne by 80% of North Shields lads when they ventured into these parts. ramirez
born in Gateshead, live in North Shields now but spent 80% of my life in Washington/Springwell but still consider myself a Geordie on account of parents, and growing up we were the only branch of the family in Washington, rest were in west Denton/ lobley hill and ensured I didn’t continue with ‘din’a’ instead of divn’t! to be fair on that rtg some of them quite rightly saying it’s a very weak argument. et tu brute
I'm in my 50's and have always been told from an early age and class now, that a Geordie is someone who is born in a location set on the banks of the river Tyne. Also that the name Geordie comes from the time when we sided with George the 1st (George's men Geordies) against the Jacobites. Talk of the Stephenson lamp also being mentioned as where the name comes from, but the George 1st affiliation is documented during the Jacobite uprising time, so the term Geordie more likely comes from that, rather than the lamp imho. Mind those thick fuckers across there are full of just blatant lies, which they make up and start to believe. The cowards then ban anyone who try's to correct them.
