I get it's just after Xmas and people are cutting costs etc and would give them the benefit of the doubt if they the slightest humility about their own club. If you constantly bang on about how massive you are and how fucking brilliant your attendances are then you've got to take that squarely on the chin at filling barely a third of your own ground on Saturday at 3pm against an equivalent club. Can’t remember the year but Hooper was in goal and Cole scored at least one and I think Bruno was fighting Tyson that night. John Anderson and Mick Lowes were staying in the same hotel and we got absolutely shit faced with them. Back then Mick Lowes covered both Newcastle and Sunderland games and he was neutral in terms of preference. Long story short when asked who had the most loyal support he said Newcastle by a long way. I had the worst hang over I’ve ever had at the match - Anderson was ordering bottles of champagne and charging it to random room numbers.
