General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)

I think the magpie one is definitely the closest to the prevailing style in the modern game. A modern version of that could be really good.

Nowt against the current crest but it does need a revamp. It’s very much of it’s time (late 80s when football clubs got a serious hard-on for shields), and it’s a lot more intricate than most of those that remain for that period.

They just need to modernise the 70s magpie crest. Of the ones we’ve had it conforms most closely to modern design sensibilities, and it’s fucking mint.

Hate the circle-ation of all the crests. Such a lame excuse that it will make the crest easier and cheaper to print on things. I'm spending 100 quid on a single t-shirt, one covered with ads, the least you can do is print one fucking badge on it.

Perhaps the reason is that they haven't decided what it will be yet?

Considering they've just announced only that they're going to discuss it, they don't have a decision on a new one yet, the new kits will have already been mass-produced in their thousands and some are already in retailers' stockrooms...I'm gonna say no

I re-read what the article says....

Based on what we've heard, updates to the current club crest should be minimal and therefore Refine & Revive is our recommended approach. We've spoken to our Fan Advisory Board, now we want to hear from you. What should stay the same? What needs to be updated? And how can we embrace our history - not just by honouring it, but by preserving its spirit and building on it, so we can thrive in the years ahead?

 

Sounds like the recommended approach of 'Revive & Refine' has come from the initial talks with the FAB. But subject to what comes back from supporters, that could change if the response was for radical change. However, from what I've seen online so far, it seems fans want limited changes (if any).

But I certainly wouldn't be against a Man City style rebrand, and something very similar to the late 70s badge....



Keep it colour for the home kit, but I think that would still work in Monotones too, for the change kits.

Maybe just have 'NEWCASTLE UNITED' and drop the football club bit. Maybe add the formation date instead?
