Not surprising he looks nervous with those clowns infront of him.

Works both ways, who can trust a keeper that cannot catch or kick.

I actually thought he looked good first half.  Was much more aggressive with coming off his line and the old sweeper keeper was back.  Made what seemed like a top save at the time off the deflected shot.  No issues with him choosing to punch, most seemed the right call.  Apart from that one he punched over for no reason.  Then caught the corner straight after when under loads of pressure

Palmer's goal is terrible all round.  Isak losing it cheaply fucking about on the ball.  Schar backing off more than Danny Simpson and the others just not even attempting to engage him.  I vaguely remember comments from Burn where he alluded to shots from range and he has to shut off the near post and make the opposition beat Pope by hitting it across him.  Schar does nothing at all to help  He doesn't close the angle, doesn't block the near post and just lets him run 30 yards and have a free hit.  Worst I've seen Schar play in a long time.

I am playing devil's advocate, mind.  As Pope's positioning was equally shit and he still should have saved it.

Thought his sweeping was absolutely top notch and he claimed crosses well, one unnecessary punch aside. He's made some very big saves in most games this season too. Agree with everything @Lush Vlad says about yesterday's goal. Schär is on the wane by the looks of it, not helped by having zero competition (see Isak, A.)

I won't go as far as saying "he's the least of our worries" because he's not perfect and an upgrade in that position would make a big difference. But I'm comfortable with him in nets, like. That goal wasn't the norm.

Hard to criticise the defence to much when they have our non existent midfield in front of them.

Start catching the ball

His punches are hit and miss. But I genuinely don’t mind it. You can’t always just catch it with players all round you. As he proved when cleaning out Kelly (punch was shit) and when he attempted to catch it and Nkunku beat him to it.

He does look a bit less confident, for sure. But teams are packing the 6 yard box and dropping it right in there most games now.

His catching is awful like, nearly cost us a couple of times last night. Also noticed he directed everyone to position themselves right from a goal kick then proceeded to boot it down the centre of the pitch. Useless twat.

never used to.

pushed one away when he wasnt even under pressure.

Said this at the game last night.

one of the lads by us made the good point he maybe just doesn't trust his shoulder fully after the injury. He can't protect himself fully when landing after catching the ball so he's punching instead.

I always felt it was one of his best skills previously coming out and plucking the ball from the air on crosses and set pieces.

Yep, that’s how I feel about it too. Got something in his mind and that’s hard to get rid off, sometimes impossible.

Defo feels his last season with us.

Don't want to be contrarian for the sake of it but I thought he did fine last night. They fully crowded him out at corners, tbf. Punching was probably the safest option and I thought he did it well.

His pre match drill always has him catching crosses and also involves a coach blocking him. Opposition sides seem to have decided it is a weakness, especially with corners.

I’ll counter that with his fake injury shithousery. And his wiping out of Havertz.

i honestly think Havertz went to do him first.
