The versatility would have been perfect for our thin on quality squad. With Bruno out he would have been the 'door opener'. With Wilson out, he could play as false 9 instead of Wood so ASM and Miggy have more movement around them. And when Bruno / Isak / Wilson are back he could play with Bruno and Joe in an amazingly high quality midfield threading through chances for Isak and Wilson to finish. Everyone could see it, that's why there was so much clamour and thought porn. I can't think of one single attainable player that could have 'completed' this team's gaps as much as him. Shak Posted August 29, 2022 Share Posted August 29, 2022 Think either Maddison or João Pedro would theoretically be similar to Paqueta in what they would add in terms of versatility. I've convinced myself that we'll go balls out for Maddison on deadline day and he will push to be allowed leave. Just think he'd add so fucking much to the squad. First choice RW, which the way we play isn't really a proper wide man. He'd be such an upgrade over Almiron there, both in terms of creating chances and adding goals himself. He'd be a joy to watch link up with Trippier too. Also, he could so easily drop into the midfield three if we want to play Isak just off Wilson or if we've injuries in midfield.
