SUPERTOON
5 hours ago, KaKa said: That Marcus Edwards at Sporting is very exciting. He rinsed Spurs both games in the Champions League this season. Even played as a false 9 against them one game. He is short but h's a really versatile player and has been used in the front 3 and number 10 position at various points. Be quite a pricey deal to do because spurs have a sell on fee, although they are trying to take that out as part of the negotiation to take Pedro Porro. ExiledGeordie
Things will really hot up this week, think the squad could really do with a couple of incomings to freshen things up.

I’m sure EH would prefer to avoid any distractions on the day. Might be wise the club aims for any arrivals between the two games if possible to give everyone a lift going into the biggest game of the season so far. There is zero percent chance that 1) we’re desperate for transfers going into that match day and 2) it’s even going to be a contest that night of the home leg. We’ll be up by two or three. The home leg will be a dead rubber match as we say here. Edited January 23, 2023 by cubaricho

The Butcher
An 18 year full back is not what we need this month. We need midfielders and wingers.
gazza ladra
I think that article said that both Arsenal and Dortmund agreed to immediately loan Fresneda back to Valladolid for the remainder of the season. Surely, not an option for us.

We definitely do need RB cover for Trippier. It’s clear he needs a rest, and we need someone young to come in and develop from him. If the player we’ve identified needs to move this month rather than us waiting for the summer, or another team jumping in ahead, then we should do the deal now. Whether that player is Fresneda, Ashby or someone else- who knows. The club are definitely aware we need to that position filled though.

Aye, but atm we have Manq and Krafth will eventually come back. It's one to address in the summer as our money should be spent elsewehere this month imo. Menace
I think Trippier has looked off form a few weeks now to be honest, we definitely need a RB.

Ideal scenario would be a handy first leg win and Manquillo to come in to give him 10 days rest before Wist Am.

The Butcher
Ornstein: Newcastle like McTominay but won’t get him in January Newcastle United have held conversations about a January move for Scott McTominay but it is expected any transfer will have to wait until summer, with Manchester United unwilling to sell in this window, writes Laurie Whitwell. Eddie Howe has been on the lookout for a new midfielder and he admires McTominay’s athleticism and ball-carrying ability. United were aware of Newcastle’s interest last summer and McTominay has come under consideration again at St James’ Park this winter given the 26-year-old’s status behind Casemiro in Erik ten Hag’s line-ups. McTominay would be a key midfielder for Howe, while at Old Trafford, players need to be sold to boost Ten Hag’s spending capacity, with UEFA’s financial fair play rules gripping. Sources insist there will be no sales in the closing days of the window, as there is limited time to reinvest and Ten Hag sees McTominay as a valuable member of his squad. But given Newcastle’s sustained appreciation of McTominay and the straitened financial picture at United, the situation is set to be reevaluated in summer. Thank fuck for that. McCormick
McTominay makes sense for a cut price deal in Jan to give us decentish squad cover while we wait for better options to come available in the next window. Making him a top summer target doesn’t exactly scream ambition though.
