Huddersfield won the league three years running. Surely someone bagged a hat trick back then, not like it’s just PL.

1 min later edit: Yes, they did and some cunt got one in the 50s too. Superb journalism.

THank you

This bit  :weep:

"And we’re back in the car and we’re back in the coach and there’s a can to be opened and sleep to be had and we’re in the fourth round (don’t say it) and you never know (don’t say it) and if we beat Watford (we won’t) but if we do (we won’t) it’s the fifth round (don’t say it) and then you never know (we do) but you never really know (we do know) and if we could only win (don’t say it) then we could be something (we can’t)."

Xabi Alonso's trial for tax fraud started today in Madrid. Unlike pretty much every other footballer taken to court by our taxman (Ronaldo, Messi, Modric, Mascherano, and a long etcetera...) he's so far refused a deal with the prosecution, so jail time is a possibility.

I've got to say your taxman is good at getting money from people, unlike the UK's....

The Spanish authorities had historically been incredibly lenient with football regarding tax - clubs had been allowed to accrue stupid amounts of unclaimed tax debt too - since no public official wanted to be the guy that sent the local club to bankruptcy. The recession made it that these kind of stuff was no longer publicly acceptable, or even something we could afford. To their credit, they have been very diligent since then and besides taking footballers to court, tax debt from clubs has been reduced massively.

Ronaldo was also in Madrid today to sign off on his plea deal.

Class if they give him a sentence of 24 months and 1 day so he has to serve it in prison. Make an example of him in the most dick way possible.

Currently enjoying watching the court drama of Kåre Ingebritsen (former Rosenborg manager) suing Rosenborg for "unreasonably" sacking him. I wonder what ripple effects it will have for managers in Norway if he wins, will surely make it harder to sack managers. He's got a proper case though, three league titles, two cup titles and two times participation in the EL over the four years he was employed, best PPG average of a manger in the Norwegian top division, and taken Rosenborg from the brink of bankrupcy to an endless pit of money (in Norwegian league standards) during his time there.

The public reason the board sacked him was because he didn't make Rosenborg play "attacking" football and didn't religiously play 4-3-3.

Fucking best testimony ever, Rosenborg are fucking themselves:

Judge: "What had Mr. Ingebritsen done wrong that would mean he was no longer qualified to be the manager?"

Rosenborg Chairman: "He hadn't done anything wrong, just not done enough things we thought were right."
