Silly question perhaps, but can you pass a medical if you’re injured?

That’s a good question actually, I think you can certainly pass most elements of it but others require physical effort and if a player say has a pulled hamstring, he’s hardly going to be on a bike or a treadmill, so I think it’s more complicated than saying yes.

Another feature of a thorough medical is trying to pick up on any problems a player might have that’s not obvious at first glance.

You dont pass or fail a medical these days its more looking at how your body will cope long term, a minor injury isn't going to change anything. Looking at the risk of signing someone with potential issues like Demba Ba being a risk due to his knees.

That's an odd take.

Obviously if he bins off the new contract at Leicester and declares he wants to move to Newcastle he'll become one of the best players in the Premier and a great lad to boot.

I saw an interview with someone who does prem medicals recently and it isn’t like I always imagined. It’s less like an MOT with pass or fail checks.

it’s more like one of those vehicle health checks they do now when you get a car serviced. It would just highlight he’s currently got a minor ankle injury.

but would say stuff like, broke his arm aged 7. Had xxx operations and so on.
