He'll be both a back up to and play up with Isak. Honestly think he'll displace Joelinton in some games and play further forward with Tonali and Bruno behind. If he can play wide right too he's actually a completely sensible signing. Thats 3 positions. Could maybe cover LW too.

I thought he was a RW at Watford tbf, but I cant remember entirely. Might be wrong there.

Think he was LW and second striker at Watford, which is encouraging because it probably means if we sign him we'll also sign an out-and-out RW too

His linkup play is great as well as his through balls. very nice having someone like this closer to Isak. Despite his size and strength he’s able to change direction easily with the ball under control because of his balance. He‘s very good at a lot of things.

Wonder if we'll try and shift Barnes this summer?

I’d be disappointed, we’d finally get to the point of having real depth out wide (assuming we sign a RW) only to lose it instantly.

If we need to make a sale I think there are better options. Let’s not forget this guy took Gordon’s spot and held it from him.

I love Barnes myself and would hope not but both Pedro and Elanga can cover that position. I don't know, just get the impression even when Barnes was in great form he was always one bad performance away from being dropped and he'd always be the one shifted over to the right despite being totally ineffective there.

With a new RW there is little reason for him to be pushed out there anymore.

And even with Eddie favouring Gordon there should be plenty of game time next season. Atleast you would hope he has learned to rotate a bit more after the last CL campaign.

Really like the idea of Barnes coming on the last 30mins after the defender(s) get tired trying to keep up with Gordon.

I'd be gutted if we did sell Barnes and not Willock. Not sure we'd get much for the latter but he's the type we should be shifting instead of Barnes.

The thing is with selling willock or Barnes.

Clubs want to buy our good players, you can't just sell an underperforming player because we want him out of squad (more willock)

Even Keegan sold Andy Cole to a rival to allow us to take the next step

Christ, can you imagine if that happened today with social media?  I thought the couple of hundred wallies on the steps outside SJP was bad enough

This place is obviously massively high on him but that price I don't get it at all.

They want rid of him and he wants out, why the insane premium?

Haven’t actually seen many fees mentioned, what’s the figures talked about ?

As a footballer I really like Joao Pedro, and I think he slots into the team to help us become better in position and progress up the pitch. I was all in on signing him 2 or 3 years ago. I can’t help but think we have missed the boat in terms of a fair or even a good value though, and should be walking away at anything over 45m. We aren’t a cartel club and psr means we need to make astute signings. Every mid table team is demanding obscene money for good players, it’s gone mad. At the price being banded about Cunha offers so much more in terms of output, admittedly being about 3 years older. Both pedro and cunha have discipline issues, so let’s not kid ourselves about no dickheads. I trust the scouting and the coaching and would rather buy 2 or 3 development players at a cheaper price to improve the squad, than go for ready made players from gimp clubs which will screw us financially. Any player we purchase at over 50m should be raising the ceiling and walking into the starting 11.
