If true hope we don’t fuck about. I don’t think his goal stats are the only way to judge him. Think he’d be brilliant and add a different dimension to our team

Exactly.

He allows us to play a different way in a different formation whilst also covering numerous positions.

60 million is a fair price on my opinion.

When our interest in Cunha was being reported at the end of the season, it was reported we were happy to pay the £62 million release clause due to his positional versatility, and the different options and cover he'd be able to provide because of it.

I imagine it's the same line of thinking with Joao Pedro. He's a younger version, but similar profile of player. Still has much more room to grow and develop too.

I think if we sign him, it will be something like 52m + 10 based on certain criteria.

Im more than happy for the club to pay big bucks if a player achieves things at the club; trophies, CL qualification, appearances, goals etc.

That seems to be the smart way to go and it's a fair bet from Brighton point of view too.

I like JP but he’s not shown that X Factor Cunha has these last couple of seasons. Winning games himself.

Cunha has looked X factor as there was not much quality around him at Wolves whilst Pedro has had Mitoma playing in the side so takes limelight off him.

Pedro's stats seem as good as Cunha too in terms of G/A.

Pedro seems less hot headed than Cunha too. So less likely to be suspended.

Also a few years under Howe he will be even better than Cunha in my opinion.

Been busy at work today but saw Edwards’s “👀” twitter post early. Came on here to see what it was about and it was just him saying we’ve opened talks. Raging.

Really good player, but why do i get the feeling he'll be a two/three season of being really good, then kicks off because we wants to move on.

Hope I’m wrong on that, but he certainly doesn't give me Bruno, Big Joe vibes.

I think he's for sure a crackerjack but we are bigger than Watford and Brighton and we are a team on the up I dont know why he'd want to leave unless big Jo savages him in training 😂

Couldn't think of a better environment for him to come into.

Two Brazilian big bros to take him under their wings.

Think he'd thrive.

Erm…

Cunha had 21 G/A - JP had 11 (non penalties). Cunha has consistently better underlying numbers among most publicly available data points. On the eye test Cunha semi consistently scored worldies - excellent long range finisher - maybe that over performance isn’t maintainable but to me - he’s done it long enough to prove he just has that superior level of ability.  JP hasn’t shown that.

Both are hot heads and are questionable dressing room presences. But Cunha has shown he’s a cut above and JP hasn’t.

I like JP.  Fairly unique profile. He wins physical duels. Can play 10 and 9.  Links it up, beats a man, find a pass etc.  but we are buying more of a project and you are right - Howe is the man to realise potential.  If he doesn’t tow the line and deliver he won’t play.  That German/awustrian/whatever manager was gassing him and that maybe went to his head.
