fwiw, I would take 100M plus Harvey Eliott with no addons or sellons. Headline/PSR prices of 150M one way 50 the other.

The previous U21 player of the tournament has done great for us.

I was thinking the same, strengthen midfield and still 100m to fritter on a shit forward

I want to believe that Edwards article, but earlier in the summer he posted an article that Trafford was going to sign, only for it to be wrong, with Trafford heading to Man City 7 minutes later

I mean if it's true good for them.

But 'reintegrating him back into the team' is just pie in the sky. Can't see anyway that's gonna happen

If he’s staying he will be playing as soon as the windows open. Doubt many other players give a fuck and I think he will be good enough on the pitch to make people forget about it.

Sounds to me like that's just us turning Edwards into a pound shop Romano and feeding him the club line to help with any negotiations. Either way, fuck this cunt and making it easy for him to leave.

I'm all for it, TBF. Everything so far has been Liverpool and Isak using Romano and Ornstein to "wag the dog". We need a counter narrative of our own, even if it's Baldwards.

Alexander Isak has been told by the Newcastle United board he is not for sale this summer and will not be allowed to join Liverpool in a show of defiance from the club’s Saudi owners.

Newcastle’s steadfast position on the matter has caused acrimony and tension, with Isak refusing to accept the decision with good grace. He has subsequently been ordered by manager Eddie Howe to train away from the group.

Until Isak is willing to get his head around the fact that he will be denied a move in this transfer window, he will not play for the club.

It is a high-risk approach from the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns Newcastle, but its position, as revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, has always been the same.

Liverpool were made aware of Newcastle’s refusal to consider a sale when they had a bid worth around £110m rejected last week, hence their decision to back away from the transfer. Liverpool have indicated they will not bid again unless Newcastle change their position which sources have reaffirmed to Telegraph Sport is extremely unlikely, even if they sign another striker.

Howe has been aware of the club’s stance for some time and has been left to try and smooth things over with the Sweden international, which is proving difficult and is severely testing his patience.

Speaking after his side’s 2-2 friendly draw with Espanyol at St James’ Park on Friday night, Howe said it was “clear” that he “can’t involve” Isak as things stand.

The striker informed the club while they were on the way out to Singapore for a pre-season tour that he wanted to explore his options for a move. Isak missed the tour of Asia with a “minor thigh injury”, but went on to train alone at former club Real Sociedad without Newcastle’s permission.

Howe had previously warned no player could expect to act “poorly and train with the group as normal.” He has not closed the door on Isak - who is training alone after the rest of the squad have left the building - playing for Newcastle again, but stressed that the situation “has to be right for that to happen”.

“We’ve had discussions and it’s clear at the moment that we can’t involve him with the group,” Howe added. “I don’t know how long that will be for, but that’s the latest.

“I’d want Alex to be playing today, I’d want him training tomorrow. We would love the player to be with us.”Let me make that absolutely clear. There’s no part of me that doesn’t want that outcome, but I don’t see the current situation changing for Aston Villa.”

Newcastle, though, have resisted the temptation to discipline the player, which is a key move as they intend to reintegrate the 25-year-old gradually when he realises he cannot force his way out of the club.

Isak has three years left on his current contract and has been told a new deal will be negotiated - almost certainly with a release clause - when the transfer window shuts in September. They know there is no point in trying to agree to a wage increase at the moment when emotions are running high.

The player’s representatives have infuriated the Newcastle hierarchy and believe the player has been badly advised. Multiple sources have strenuously denied there was a gentleman’s agreement in place for Isak to leave this summer and at no stage where they informed last season that the player intended it to be his last on Tyneside.

There is also anger at the way Liverpool have behaved and there was bafflement when their bid last week was made given it was nowhere near Newcastle’s valuation of £150m.

Despite trying to sign several forward players this summer, none of them have been seen as a direct replacement for Isak.

Newcastle’s refusal to sell has universal backing at boardroom level with co-owner Jamie Reuben also belligerent in the face of a naked attempt by a player to force his way out of the club and the apparent attempts to unsettle him.

Whether Liverpool are willing to accept defeat remains to be seen. Given Isak’s state of mind, they may still feel the door is ajar for a British record bid to test the club’s resolve.

The transfer window does not shut until September 1, which is a potentially excruciatingly long time for this standoff to continue.

Howe chose his words carefully when speaking to the media on Friday night and will give Isak the time and space he needs to accept the club’s decision. But Newcastle clearly have an unhappy player on their hands and will be without their leading goalscorer for the start of the Premier League campaign.

Newcastle supporters, who once idolised Isak, are understandably furious with the player and are dismayed by his conduct. Nevertheless, Newcastle’s board believe the player can be reintegrated and will go on to have a successful season at the club.

The nerve of this fucking cunt

And for Liverpool of all clubs. Not even a Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG.

Still think he'll be away, but that sort of message coming out of the club might just stop us from being fleeced every time we show interest in a player. Also pushes that narrative that we won't be low balled in selling.

I said this a few posts ago, but if the players we buy with the money improve us more than Isak strengthens Liverpool, then we’re not actually strengthening a domestic rival.

If Isak goes to Liverpool absolutely he will improve them to the extent that they will be pretty much untouchable in the premier league and favourites for the champions league. We will be weaker and no combination of Wissa, Jackson or similar will strengthen us. It also as has been mentioned opens the door to Tonali leaving for Man Utd, offer likely incoming, Bruno and Tino to City, Gordon to Liverpool etc etc. And that would be the end of this phase of PIF and it wouldn't have been the roaring success that we all hoped for. IMO of course.

Great article from Edwards about time we started with the propaganda.

Liverpool also look short up front for a full campaign, big pressure on them to pay up 150 million plus if they want him now.

Or for them to buy Samu and be done with the saga. I reckon it's tiring for them too.

They have form as well.

Rolled over on Van Dijk and paid a record fee for a defender when Southampton told them to fuck off initially.

They also bent the knee when Leipzig refused to accept a pound less than the release clause and demanded the entire thing being paid up front for Szoboszlai.

Not sure what wages Isak is on but how much is it going to cost us to keep him a full season without him kicking a ball for us? And his value will decrease too. The twat has really fucked us over. Hate the thought of him going to Liverpool aswell. Can't see a decent outcome for us either way and don't think Liverpool are going to pay the full amount we want. The bloke is lower that a slugs nutsack and twice as slimy

If true, Does this mean we'll not be bringing in wissa or anyone else upfront? If we can get him a partner and regain cl again next season his value won't drop and could even improve in this day and age

Why wouldn’t we bring in another striker ?

He’s not sitting out the entire season man, even if he is in a massive huff. He‘s not going to wreck his earning potential, miss an CL campaign and his chances of being in best nick for the WC.

Wissa is Wilson's replacement. And solidly reliable enough to bang em in if Isak goes on strike, and yet challenge Isak for top scorer if Isak doesn't go on strike. If Isak is a competitive, aggressive type, he'd need to be challenged. It's a good move, if we manage to get Wissa over the line.

Didn't look at 365 but it was 2/5 on Skybet yesterday. Just checked and it's out to 7/4 now.

Hell of a jump based on Howe's quotes/Edwards article.

Wonder if their sources at Liverpool have told them their interest is cooling off.
