Still with the pre-season man

The year is 2036, and Alexander Isak, once knocking on the door of being a truly world-class centre forward during his now long forgotten days at recently crowned Premier League champions and Champions League favourites Newcastle United, is struggling during his farewell season in the Qatari Stars League, with analysts tracing his lack of match sharpness back to missed pre-season during the summer of 2025.

Isak never had stamina, even Howe’s training couldn’t improve it. He would basically go out of the game after about 55 minutes in most cases.

And his movement is great but obviously he’s not a hold up player or a ‘platform’ for the rest of the team. He’s a finisher.

Looking like he's going to be a legend in the worst PL signings of all time YouTube videos in the next 5-10 years, like Torres to Chelsea (but even he was much better than how Isak has done so far)

Yep.  I get a feeling Slot’s training is bad for him physically. Howe got him as strong and fit as he could and that was still a 60-70 minute player.

And he’s no good at hold up.  He can come deep and link it. Turn and dribble. But you really want him high on the defenders shoulder.

Ekitike injured and they need him to step up the rest of the season now.

Perfect time for the groin to go. Look out for that soon. You just know it's coming.

He’s a coward. He’ll be on the fringes of play getting his fitness up for the World Cup. There’s not a chance he’s putting in 100% incase he misses the World Cup thru injury. That’s why he was partly non existent yesterday. He’s not a team player

i'm not big on karma, but the two players who went on strike each currently being candidates for the worst ever signing by their clubs does feel like something.

Yup, I'm not convinced Isak was really injured towards the end of last season when he was out with a Champions League place on the line. He had already started his campaign to go to Liverpool.

And now with the Liverpool season going to shite and like you said, that World Cup place waiting over the summer, which he will be picked for as long as he's fit, he will be prioritising that, and will likely pick up another "groin injury" again soon.

I’ll see your World Class Isak and raise you Wissa, Woltemade and Elanga

I love Eddie, but he’s lost his mojo on new player development this season, ain’t no denying.

Tbf on those two he's not had the time on the training pitch. And the likes of Wissa we're meant to be the finished article

Isak was hardly raw talent, he'd been touted as one of the top young(ish) strikers in Europe and we paid a big fee for him.

Eddie hasn't got the best out of three of his key new players this season. The reasons why can be debated at length, but the facts are that he hasn't.

I wonder who has been the most disastrous signing for their respective club, Isak or Wissa.

I think many could make a good case for Isak but personally I think Wissa is clearly the worse signing based on the fact there is a strong chance Isak could still come good for Liverpool whereas Wissa is all but a busted flush here. I don't think Isak was particularly expensive for what they thought they were getting, indeed many of us thought we'd caved in on the price, but everyone acknowledged that Wissa was way too expensive given his age and contract situation but it was very much a 'needs must' situation.

Either way, they both went on strike which pissed off their old fanbase and didn't endear themselves to their new ones so fuck them

Absolute shitebags, they must be so scarred from having their feelings hurt by rival fans that they pull up the drawbridge to new joiners whenever they have a bad result.

That forum must be one of the most humourless, echo chambers on the internet.

Isak with resale value, Wissa with fuck all unless an obliging ME club bails us out £55m out a hole for the disaster.

Probably more chance he’ll come good now Ekitike is out long term.

Aye we're fooling ourselves. He's generationally talented. He just happens to be a fucking cunt and hopefully a permacrock but the talent is abundant. Hope his bones spontaneously combust.

Yep - a carefully curated echo chamber to culture an atmosphere and ideology of victimhood by sacrificing your own free speech for the right to agree with a group of people that would make Discord and Reddit mods look like regular folk.

Wissa has been disastrous for us but Isak was always going to be a terrible signing for Liverpool.

All of their play is set up to go through Salah.  And Salah (justifiably) is a very selfish player who, given the option to pass to Isak or shoot, is always going to take the shot himself.  Add in Liverpool losing TAA to Madrid and Isak has been left with few players around him willing to give him the ball in areas where he might be dangerous.  Then, since he started so poorly, he isn't being passed to when he does get in the right positions.

It'll be interesting to see if Liverpool try to build a team around him with Salah leaving or if they give up on him entirely in the summer.

Weirdly with salah going and Ekitike injured he has to get the most out of Isak so I can see them bidding for Jacob Murphy this summer based on what he said at the start that we don’t have a Murphy profile in the squad

£100 million and Murphy cuts in and tries to score at every opportunity instead of crossing. Tremendous

Don’t be daft. He was talking about a player that plays like Murphy not specifically Jacob Murphy.
