Alexander Isak: has a chance to play against Everton (Howe)

Recommended Posts

We will surpass Arsenal in the next few years if FFP is loosened. We're basically not far from matching them now so I don't really understand this gist of him constantly being linked to them.

Bless him. I'd actually lose a bit of respect for Isak if he went to Arsenal, he's so much better than them.

Can someone with the know how please make a video of all of Merson's comments from the below clip, so they can be put in a tweet and shared relentlessly every time he opens his big mouth.

Probably giving Merson too much credit here but if his point is that the pool of teams that Isak could go to is very small, given that it would have to be a champions league team, who don't currently have a top striker, and have the the necessary PSR headroom, he is correct.

However, the fact he doesn't mention Liverpool (who have Nunez and an out of contract Salah) and he throws Villa in the mix, tells me that Merson is doing his typical thing of thinking that the whole world revolves around his former teams.

Where he could go;

Barca (Lewandowski is old)

Bayern (if Kane leaves)

Liverpool (if Nunez and Salah goes)

PSG (they could certainly afford it but not sure at this stage of career)

Chelsea (they definitely could / would throw money at him but they've lost the prestige of the past)

Al-Hilal or one of the PIF clubs (if they threw £200m at it and wanted to make a statement)

Where he will go:

Nowhere - he'll sign a new contract if we get CL

Where he defo won't go:
Arsenal they do not have the budget and not far ahead enough to be worth it.

Man City have Haaland

Real Madrid - they have Vini, Mbappe etc - can't see it

Tottenham do have the budget and a big stadium - can't see Levy rubber stamping it and also they're currently a step down

Villa

Any of the Italian clubs due to budgets (otherwise I could see have seen him once upon a time at an Inter or Juve)

Agree, he only gets airtime because the folk at Sky feel sorry for him.

He's been a shite pundit for a good while now.

It's true this like

They've got rid of all the old whoppers like thompson and Nicholas but they stuck with him because they know there's a chance he'd crack up again

Fair play him getting sober but fuck me he's a cunt

That actually makes sense. Extremely unlikely Liverpool would be willing to pay what it would take.

My uninformed prediction is that Isak will sign a new contract in the summer, with some form of clause inserted, similar to Bruno.

That said if there was a "race" for his signature, I'd have Liverpool as strong contenders. If Salah and Nunez leave, they'll be in the market for forwards and they're in a strong PSR position too.

No idea, I just imagine his agent will want something in there to stop us pricing him out of a move if we aren't progressing down the line.

If Salah leaves I can absolutely see Liverpool willing to spend a huge amount on Isak. I suspect they'd try and tap him up a bit and tell him to run down his contract till he's a bit cheaper mind.

I've come to the conclusion some of you actually enjoy worrying about and tormenting yourselves obsessing over clubs he will be leaving to join.

Very very strange.

Yeah, that offside was so dodgy man, but whatever.

Thank God it didn't cost us.

i think as a rule - if its not offside to the naked eye - you shouldnt be drawing lines.

you cant tell exactly when a ball is played so there's a margin of error.

and this offside  leaning forwrd but standing behind the defender bollocks is shite.

We're simply mocking Mr Merson's comments that Arsenal is the only club that he could transfer too.

The football establishment are furious he plays for us. I love it.

Liverpool is definitely the one to worry about, I will be livid if he ends up with those bastards. I'd rather he went to Arsenal. Hopefully he's going nowhere though.

Famous last words but I think Liverpool would only happen if ownership changed tbh. Or if they were able to get those three to re-sign and get big fees rather lose on a free.

What irritates me most about this garbage that Sky keep spouting about Isak to Arsenal is that not one of these pundits are entertaining the idea that Isak might not actually want to leave and it's entirely possible he loves it here. Everytime you watch us on Sky or there's a segment on us on SSN they keep churning out this perception that Isak is just mulling around at Newcastle and he's just waiting and hoping that Arsenal swoop in and rescues him from Newcastle. The arrogance and delusion is incredible.

If they think he's too good for Newcastle then he's sure as shit way too good for Arsenal. If and when he does leave then he deserves to go somewhere that does wins trophies, not to a team of nearly men managed by the biggest wet-wipe in the league with the most mentally unhinged set of fans in the country.
