He gets a bump in pay and we get a chance to prove why he should stay further by what we achieve next year. If he wants to go we still get a massive wedge. I’ve read Liverpool are so “relaxed” over their summer business and wouldn't make any moves until further outgoings are made - which seem to be nowhere near. My hope is he realises how important he is for the club for CL and potentially re-qualifying for the CL and gives us another season with the sweetener of a new contract to keep him sweet. It seems like the shills in the media have been touting their darling teams to prise him off us since he got here, he's no stranger to speculation. He also knows his worth and he also knows that the harder he works and the better he performs for us the more money he'll get when he eventually moves, this isn't a Gordon situation where last summer may have been the only chance his boyhood team were willing to take a chance on him.
