There’s never been a £200M player aside from Neymar, has there?

There hasn't, but players at his level don't move very often, and when they have it has tended to be at the end of their contracts. Compared to other £100m+ transfers that he is leagues ahead of in terms of quality and rarity, he's worth a lot more than £120-£130m.

As each week passes, there’s less reason to sell Isak. If it’s not sounding like he’s joining Liverpool this time next week, he’s staying IMO.

If we’re talking £120m for Liverpool to buy, we can get that next summer after Isak posts another 20+ Prem season, as I’m sure more clubs will be interested. Spurs got £100m for Kane with one year left.

There’s no point selling Isak late in window as it doesn’t do us any good as there’s no guarantee we will get the signings we want because why would selling clubs sell late on themselves, unless it’s for premium prices? Which we’ve shown window to not match.

He’s got nowhere near the commercial cache of a Neymar or Mbappe, though. I think £150M is the absolute top of the market for him.

Nickson and Andy Howe need to be binned after the transfer window. They’ve been a disaster last 2 summer windows

Right, let’s forget about all the brilliant signings they delivered before that. They need help not “binning”.

Yes, but we cannot be certain of what they think internally at the club regarding all of this. And so we should be prepared for all outcomes.

No i dont have an ear on the inside we have heard he's the chairman's favourite player, desire to be number 1, he's not for sale.

All that could be fan service twaddle but ultimately I see no upshot in him going now.

Isak is the difference between having a chance of back to back champions league places and being a top 8 side. That alone based on league position payments and loss of earnings and failing to qualify for the champions league is a greater risk than the risk of his value dropping back to 100m.

We simply can't let him go without the fee being massive. The journos saying it will be a british record doesn't sound like it will be the sort of money the club are after as I said before even 130m isn't transformative for us.

I don’t know, the way he’s ice cool on the pitch and his celebrations, there’s a proper commercial reach to tap into too (especially with the good English language). Won’t have the ‘star’ power, but there’s significant amount to work with if he’s involved in big moments in big competitions.

I haven’t felt this suspicious since my lass parked the car up on our drive with all the windows steamed up

She said she was giving her gym instructor a lift to the Bums & Tums class but there was a massive traffic jam on the way there, so they decided to pull into a lay-by and do the workout inside the car instead because it was raining

Get Isak and his agent in. Tell his agent that it’s £200m all cash, one payment. Give him ten days to go and find a club that will pay the fee if no bites then move is off the table this window.

Shift the issue back to the agent (who felt insulted) to resolve. We can fully focus on transfers while the super agent goes looking for the elusive unicorn.

Once Eddie approves a target, it’s up to Nickson’s and his team to assess the player’s value and guide the club on what to bid. But based on recent activity, it’s clear they’re not doing a good enough job. Despite having access to extensive data and scouting resources, their valuations often seem off, leading us to missing out on realistic targets (Trafford). It’s their job to help the club act decisively and smartly in the market, the current results suggest they’re falling short.

We should charge a fee is high enough for half their fans to think it is too high. That's what they just paid for Ekitike and paid not long ago for Nunez.

Delap aside, every other forward has gone for this level of fee this window. Pedro was 60M for five goals from open play.

The "take our 120M" posts on Twitter are from people expecting us to be a soft touch. Isak was faster to 50 Premier League goals than Henry, Aguero, and Suarez. There is no need for NUFC or toon fans to talk the player down or come up with reasons for Liverpool to get a bargain. If they want him, they have to pay.

We're not gonna settle on a price with Liverpool, they'd have to table an astronomical bid for Yassir and Eddie to change their stance, he's categorically not for sale so Liverpool have to put down enough reddies to change that. Isak gets a bumper contract and stays iyam

I will lose pretty much all respect for the people in charge if we bend over and do it on Liverpools demands. Hes got three years left, we should do what every club has done to us the whole window, and up the price. Making it difficult to do a deal, stand our ground. Liverpool have competent people in charge, they know exactly what they are doing. Turning his head, trying to get the fee down. If we are not getting a good deal, then there will be no deal, easy as that.

I'm fairly sure Nickson's role is to find the players i.e. a Scalvini and then it is up to someone else to do the negotiating aka Paul Mitchell previously? If that person is Andy Howe currently fulfilling the role then when new CEO or Sporting Director comes in he could be shifted based on this last window.

And tell the agent he’s banned from dealing with any PIF clubs going forward. That will give players second thoughts when signing up with him😁

This is such massive copium. Liverpool fans are gloating because they are about to sign arguably the best striker in the world right now. Nothing whatsoever to do about NUFC being a threat.

We really have totally fucked this up. The fact that we aren’t in contract negotiations with him speaks volumes and we are just waiting for the dippers to get their funds in order.

I bet he goes for about £130m with a remaining £15m being in add ons. The scouse must be laughing their balls off.

Just a reminder that if we sold him to Liverpool, they also signed our fucking replacement.

I've said that comparisons with Ashley are ridiculous previously, which they are, but my opinion of their football acumen will absolutely plummet if we sell to not just a rival, but a rival that bought our replacement. I doubt it would ever recover tbh.

Agreed. If we sell for anything less than silly money £160m+ I have huge doubts over PIFs competence.

Lads got 3 years left on his contract. We absolutely don’t have to fold.
