I get the feeling that Isak and his agent think they're above the club, Eddie has just power slammed them right back down to earth with a thud.

BTW, when was the last time Romano tweeted about Isak saga? It feels like it's been ages. Can someone check to make sure he's OK? And if he is OK can you make it so that he isn't OK with extreme violence?

Kills my soul that he’s going to be playing for Liverpool. I don’t think there is a less deserving fan base.

It's the biggest 'should I just sack it all off?' situation I've had since Rafa left. I won't, but I'm going to find it extremely hard to handle it and a big chunk of the last few years will be unwatchable for me for a while as well.

With Liverpool likely to sell Nunez for around €70 million, they should have more than enough funds to cover the £150 million needed for Isak. That said, securing replacements needs to be be the priority

Surely they need to strengthen the defence, don't they only have 3 CB?

Feel similar. Was putting together the videos for pre match threads just now and it actually stings seeing Isak in so many of the recent ones and made me think I should just sack it off for this season. If he goes I won't be able to watch them. If Sesko/Ramos/whoever come in and are class that'd soften the hurt significantly but fuck me.

Very much in the same boat. His goal in the final is sadly unwatchable for me now.

Isak going to Liverpool and the other 3 or 4 really strengthing hard this summer makes me think what’s the point? Like a game of snakes and ladders - Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City all hitting a ladder while we hit snake after snake

Its only "needed" if we set the price at 150M.

They are desparate for him, so we should set it higher, even more so if they have "more than enough funds".

Everyone said Mbeumo was "60M" until the selling club started rejecting bids from a team desparate for him.

He’s not at Liverpool yet. The club have acted not present all summer, but it will require their presence to sell their once in a generation prized asset. They may well utterly drop the ball and sell him to Liverpool. But they haven’t yet.

No reason to act as if he is already there until he is. I doubt it will soften the blow by assuming it has already happened. In my experience,  It usually just prolongs the bad feelings.

NUFC still has the chance to do the right thing here.

Thank fuck we grabbed a cup and UCL qualification on the way down. Can't wait to see what we do when we finally get on a ladder. And we will.

 I swear. I had front row seats to see the Arab Spring fall in on itself and self destruct, and a military junta obliterate the promising peace work of a budding democracy. How the hell am I more optimistic than a fair few in here?

I just genuinely think Liverpool can't afford him, with transfer fees wages bonuses ect your probably talking close to a quarter of a billion pounds, on one player, that might get injured thr day after he signs, it's just to much of a risk.

Indeed. Won’t be close to top 4 this season unless something drastic happens over next 4 weeks

you do that. It was a wider point about the rules and how we are hamstrung and the 4 I mentioned have spent over a billion pounds amongst them but I don’t think you quite got that

As much as emotionally I don’t want to see us cave and let Isak go to Liverpool, rationally I do wonder what exactly the point of putting our foot down and forcing him to stay for another year is. Damage is done in terms of his relationship with his teammates you’d imagine, a huge part of our success the last couple of years has been the incredible atmosphere at the club and I can’t see a starting CF with one foot out the door for a season being great for that.

If we think Sesko or someone else we can land this summer is the long term replacement and we can get a price for Isak we think is fair, bite the bullet and do it.

Ideally we’d sign Sesko and be willing to have him and Isak on the books for the year if our price for Isak isn’t met. If they meet it in time for us to then go out and get Wissa, so be it. If not, we wait a year and see if there are other options next summer.

If he wants away he wants away. Shame it’s to Liverpool, but let’s face it.. he’s good enough to play for any of the top teams in Europe - so it’s inevitable he’d want to do that at some point. He’s not a geordie!

Let’s hope we have their eyes out as much as possible and use the money well.

Absolutely, they definitely do — and with the sales of Tyler Morton for around £15 million and Nunez for about £60 million, their total summer income should approach nearly £200 million. That gives them more than enough funds to make more big moves this window.

His value to us and his value of not going to a "rival" is significantly higher than his perceived book value of £150m. I'm already so annoyed at Isak for not only his carry on but his choice of club, anyone but them! But I'll be even more annoyed with the club if they sell him to them.

we shouldn’t put a value on selling him to Liverpool unless it’s a fee that bankrupts them afaic
