Will never ever forgive this cunt for the damage he’s caused this football club

Same.

He'll be sitting at home on Monday night watching and cheering on Virgil and the boys.  It boils my fucking piss

Really hope we bring in two and get rid of this petulant arsehole who has ruined our summer - never want to see him play for us again and never want to have to support him at the match again

I hope he stays, we get CL again which further enhances our reputation and ability to increase revenue, and next summer other teams are in the market for him and we ship him off to Spain or somewhere he isn’t gonna be rubbed in our faces every week.

Howe's comments do undetmine the idea that Isak hasn't been for sale this summer.

As others have said, why Liverpool bid for Ekitike is puzzling.

They need 2 strikers, they were their top 2 and they thought they could get both (still might).

I'm assuming Isak's agent has been in touch with Liverpool since the end of last season atleast and Isak's played his part to make their master plan come together.

I don't think they signed Ekitike out of spite...he's a genuinely talent. For some reason, I think Slot wants both. We thought we did, but now we know he was probably a replacement. Didnt want to come here anyway so doesnt matter.

Not sure both do work in the same team though. Both of their preferred positions are the number 9 role. Unless they have fluid LW and 9 interchanging etc etc

Hmm, not sure. They took long enough to actually make their bid for him (Ekitike) once their interest was known.

I think there was a hope we'd concede to selling them Isak, so we could sign Ekitike instead. Problem was, Ekitike then declared he 'only wanted Liverpool' and we walked away, and they realised they might not get Isak so sign Ekitike instead.

Then Isaks head is turned anyway, and they realise they can engineer a move where he agitates, but they won't/can't now pay the full asking price, hence the low ball offer made.

A lot of guesswork and supposition, but its the way it looks to me.

If he stays, does well (as in a 15+ prem season and scores goals in UCL), I'd start to wager more money that Bayern and Real Madrid will come to the table for £100m+.

The talk around Bayern is looking for a Kane replacement as he has one year left next summer. Could get £50m+ back from the Prem for him and sign a younger striker (German guy the linked one this summer).

Real Madrid, reality will set in they have to choose one of Mbappe or Vini long term. Mbappe the logical one, meaning he moves LW and they need a star striker. It'll then be between Haaland and Isak, and Isak would be the far more attainable one both in terms of transfer fee and wages.

A new contract and a release clause of £100m to European side, £130m to a Prem side would be logical to me (if you could get him on a new deal).

Chances are Liverpool go elsewhere by end of window, so the prem move is then gone.

Massive difference between "for sale" and "would begrudgingly be allowed to leave if a suitable bid came in, and only after we'd already signed his and Callum Wilson's replacements"

A conditional sale isn't not for sale though.

Totally get the sentiment, but it would be cutting our nose to spite our face IMO. There are no viable Isak replacements that I can see on the market. We would be harming ourselves to accommodate his wishes.

Isak’s redemption arc seems to be starting right here…

I don't think there is any redemption arc available. If he performs to the best of his ability we can have a more amicable parting of ways next summer, and appreciate the contribution rather than the man. That's as good as it should get.

Ideal scenario is get two strikers in before the end of the window and then once the deadline passes we line him up a lucrative season long loan to Turkey or Saudi and tell him his options are reintegrate and earn playing time or take the loan for a season.

Make it clear that we won’t be selling him in January.

The viable alternative is the hard part. We probably will have to get a prospect in the same way as Isak was a prospect. It's pretty obvious getting a direct replacement is impossible.

Howe has handled this so well this summer. Just such a don of a manager.

Seriously. His method of being classy and circumspect is miles ahead of my plan to slowly dip Alex into a vat of acid feet first Joker style.

The best answer Eddie gave:

"Do you think Alex has been badly advised?"

"Thats not for me to comment on, its for Alex to reflect upon".

Thats a genius at work right there. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

I will die if Eddie ever leaves us.

Me too, it's a shame we a lacking all of the information mind. For instance would you feel differently if Liverpool offered us what we promised to let him go for?

Depends really, there’s a lot of extra politics at play, e.g. them going for Ekitike, us not having a replacement etc

Isn’t really as they needed two. It’s only puzzling if you view the Ekitike bid as purely a play to get Isak.

I agree - and that is what Joao Pedro, Ekitike and Sesko represented. With those out of the picture, I don't see anything. Hopefully with more scouting and extensive planning an alternative option will emerge for next summer.

He needs a new contract by early next year, so it comfortably puts to bed any England chances. That's the only risk we have, which can be nipped quick if Howe isn't sold on the idea of England yet.
