Still maintain this is a work like I said in July. Keep other clubs away and then beat Liverpool when he's in the starting line up.

I'm either wrong and this is ignored and buried under other comments or I'm right and then I get to be smug for the rest of the week.

Mate, you can be smug for the next year if that happens.

Oh for sure, Montreal was real.

I still don’t understand the logic of throwing points away against Villa in order to shock Liverpool re our starting line-up - a fixture in which we’ve lost every league match we’ve played against them with Isak

We drew with them last season at SJP.

The rest of the week? If you're right on that you can be smug for the rest of your life

Forgot about that :)

Still, I’m not convinced that we’d fabricate this entire thing - with the help and assistance of Isak and his agent - in order to pull a fast one in the team announcement an hour before kick off

We did it with the cup win though.

Plus, as I said in July, it was to take away the pressures of "second fiddle to Isak" schtick. I mean, I get that that particular aspect hasn't worked out as would have liked since we still haven't signed a fucking striker, so might as well hit Liverpool with a shock since they've been prize cunts for the entire summer. Also there is the underlying rhetoric that Eddie has subtly pushed for a while now; PSR stifles competition. It's a massive gamble, a ton of strategic thinking and a whopping leap of faith and I get that, but I can just see that this is part of a massive slow burn to give the premier league enough rope etc.

Or my mind has just gone into overdrive to give me hope, but I can absolutely see this being the case. Plus, the club and player have other options to let this just fall away into nothing if they want.

Hey, if it's not then it's not. Id like to think this is what's happening, but if not then some random daft fucker on this forum is wrong. I can live with that.

It would definitely be a WWE storyline if so and Slot would have the Vince McMahon shocked wide eyed look with Adams Apple gulping

Imagine thinking we’ve not gave Isak a single minute of preseason and sacrificed points v Villa just to surprise Liverpool and him to be rusty and not match fit

If it's a work I hope we start the match with ten men and let the commentators be like 'What are Newcastle doing?' and 'Who's going to be the eleventh man?' for the first fifteen or twenty minutes. Then after Pope has just pulled off his third world-class save and we appear to be on the ropes, out comes Isak! Maybe he's wearing a Liverpool tracksuit or something and slaps hands with a few Liverpool fans only to unzip and there's a Newcastle United jersey! Oh my god! And he's just wrecked Slot with a massive clothesline!
