Ornstein has had a mare this whole saga, starting off with his little meltdown when people were throwing his May statements about Isak not wanting to leave until next year back in his face.

Point is that it's widely reported now, not just the journos that get it wrong (Edwards)

Surely everyone has been expecting this very scenario, no? Did you really think, after what we know about Eddie and our players stance on this, that we’d want him in the building at the end of tomorrow?

I genuinely don’t care that he goes… I don’t really care that it’s to Liverpool anymore (they deserve each other… hopefully his career there is filled with little niggly injuries). I don’t really care if its £125m-£130m. It really doesn’t matter.

So long as we come out of this tomorrow with a stronger squad than last year (one more striker signing), and a harmonious dressing room, I’m happy.

Hope now reporting:

"Newcastle would like a package in the region of £130m, but it could be that such a figure is only achieved with add-ons."

"Still working" on Wissa. Whatever that means. Maybe there's some encouragement on that front that's prompted this :dontknow:

He was reporting it previously as well though, wasn't he?

Like - I haven't seen any update from NUFC that suggests their stance has changed at all (mind I came off social media).

No one has reported that we're okay with compromising on asking price and on whether we bring in a striker or not until tonight. Now Edwards, Hope, Ornstein are all reporting it.

How much did we buy Isak for? Double it. What do you get?

We haven't signed Wissa have we?

That's not how this works anymore, the powers that be turned this into one big accountancy exercise, and those are the rules you need to play by now.  Hence the reason why there is now a 22 year old from our academy who just made the England squad... playing for Nottingham Forest.

And you're mental if you are feeling smug about us going into a 60 game season with an unproven striker from the Bundesliga as our sole option up front (who is not a lone forward to begin).  All it takes is one stray boot from some relegation fodder clogger and we're fucked.

Not surprised at all. This was very predictable but it's a mistake and when you make such mistakes you get punished.

Again and to be very clear I don't care if he plays for us again or not. You can't reward his behaviour by giving him what he wants and you can give Liverpool the player when you know they've engineered this.

Isak can rot until January no issues, he won't see our players he will be training alone. I'm not having this notion that we hav to ship him out this window at Liverpool's convenience.

...the raised eyebrows are coming from the suggestion that we'll sell, even without a second striker coming in.

Only Edwards says anything about compromising on bringing in a striker.

I’d agree that this would be really frustrating if we don’t have a striker signed tomorrow, but as things stand there’s nothing to suggest that being or not being the case.

Well we'll have to wait and see I guess. We're all speculating. I personally just don't see the point in folk going "all in" on the club and owners when it's "ifs, buts and maybes". Even if we do sell without a replacement - whilst I won't personally agree with it - there are arguments for it - as have been documented by many a poster on this forum in recent days.

Yeah I mean at the end of the day if Eddie wants him gone and the players want him gone then I want him gone too.

(I realize I am relying very heavily on your itk stuff in my assumption that the above is true  but oh well you seem like a nice guy).

Cons

Losing an elite striker and leaving us very short heading into a crucial UCL season.

Dickhead or not, that is a massive failure.

He was never going to be elite for us ever again even if he actually played for us ever again
